Muhammad bin Ka'b narrated: I went to Anas bin Malik during Ramadan and he was about to travel. His mount was prepared for him, and he put on his traveling clothes, then he called for some food to eat, and I said to him: 'Is it Sunnah?' He said: 'It is Sunnah.' Then he rode.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَيْتُ أَنَسَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ سَفَرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُحِلَتْ لَهُ رَاحِلَتُهُ وَلَبِسَ ثِيَابَ السَّفَرِ فَدَعَا بِطَعَامٍ فَأَكَلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ سُنَّةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُنَّةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَكِبَ.

محمد بن کعب کہتے ہیں کہ میں رمضان میں انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ کے پاس آیا، وہ سفر کا ارادہ کر رہے تھے، ان کی سواری پر کجاوہ کسا جا چکا تھا اور وہ سفر کے کپڑے پہن چکے تھے، انہوں نے کھانا منگایا اور کھایا۔ میں نے ان سے پوچھا: یہ سنت ہے؟ کہا: ہاں سنت ہے۔ پھر وہ سوار ہوئے۔

Anas bin Malik narrated: The Prophet would perform I'tikaf during the last ten (nights) of Ramadan. One year he did not perform I'tikaf, so he performed I'tikaf for twenty (nights) in the following year.

Aishah narrated: When the Messenger of Allah performed I'tikaf, he would bring his head near me so I could comb it, and he would not enter the house except for some personal needs.
