Muadh bin Jabal narrated: I saw the Prophet when he performed Wudu, he wiped his face with the edge of his garment. Abu Eisa said: This Hadith is gharib, and its chain is weak. Rishdin bin Sa'd and Abdur- Rahman bin Ziyad bin An'um Al Ifriqi [narrators in the chain of this Hadith] are weak in Hadith. Some people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet and those after them, permitted using a towel after Wudu. Those who disliked it, only disliked it from the view of the saying: Wudu is weighed. That as reported from Sa'eed bin Al- Musayyab and Az-Zuhri. Muhammad bin Humaid [Ar-Razi] narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, he said: Ali bin Mujahid narrated to me, and he is trustworthy to me, from me, from: Tha'labah from Az-Zuhri, he said: The towel is only disliked after Wudu because Wudu is weighed.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَنْعُمٍ، عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ بِطَرَفِ ثَوْبِهِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا غَرِيبٌ وَإِسْنَادُهُ ضَعِيفٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَنْعُمٍ الْأَفْرِيقِيُّ يُضَعَّفَانِ فِي الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَخَّصَ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ فِي التَّمَنْدُلِ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ كَرِهَهُ إِنَّمَا كَرِهَهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ أَنَّهُ قِيلَ إِنَّ الْوُضُوءَ يُوزَنُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرُوِيَ ذَلِكَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالزُّهْرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِيهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِّي وَهُوَ عِنْدِي ثِقَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ثَعْلَبَة، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا كُرِهَ الْمِنْدِيلُ بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لِأَنَّ الْوُضُوءَ يُوزَنُ.

معاذ بن جبل رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے نبی اکرم صلی الله علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا کہ جب آپ وضو کرتے تو چہرے کو اپنے کپڑے کے کنارے سے پونچھتے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے اور اس کی سند ضعیف ہے، رشدین بن سعد اور عبدالرحمٰن بن زیاد بن انعم الافریقی دونوں حدیث میں ضعیف قرار دیئے جاتے ہیں، ۲- صحابہ کرام اور ان کے بعد کے لوگوں میں سے اہل علم کے ایک گروہ نے وضو کے بعد رومال سے پونچھنے کی اجازت دی ہے، اور جن لوگوں نے اسے مکروہ کہا ہے تو محض اس وجہ سے کہا ہے کہ کہا جاتا ہے: وضو کو ( قیامت کے دن ) تولا جائے گا، یہ بات سعید بن مسیب اور زہری سے روایت کی گئی ہے، ۳- زہری کہتے ہیں کہ وضو کے بعد تولیہ کا استعمال اس لیے مکروہ ہے کہ وضو کا پانی ( قیامت کے روز ) تولا جائے گا ۱؎۔

Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: 'Whoever performs Wudu, making Wudu well, then says: (Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan-abduhu wa rasuluhu, Allahummajalni minat tawwabin, waj'alni minal mutatahhirin) 'I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah Alone, there are no partners for Him. And I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O Allah! Make me among the repentant, and make me among those who purify themselves.' Then eight gates of Paradise are opened for him, that may enter by whichever of them wishes.

Safinah narrated: The Prophet would perform Wudu with a Mudd, and he would perform Ghusl with a Sa.

Amr bin Amir Al-Ansari narrated that he heard Anas bin Malik saying: The Prophet would perform Wudu for every Salat. I said, So what about you, what would you do? He said I wouId pray all of the prayers with one Wudu, as long as we had not committed Hadath (anything that invalidates Wudu).
