Translation

Narrated Jabir: that a Bedouin gave the pledge to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for Islam, then he was afflicted by the sickness in Al-Madinah. So the Bedouin went to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: Take back my pledge. But the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) refused. Then the Bedouin left and came back and said: Take back my pledge, and he refused. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Al-Madinah is but like bellows, it expels its filth and purifies its good.

حَدَّثَنَا الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا بَايَعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَأَصَابَهُ وَعَكٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَقِلْنِي بَيْعَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَقِلْنِي بَيْعَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَبَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا الْمَدِينَةُ كَالْكِيرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏تَنْفِي خَبَثَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتُنَصِّعُ طَيِّبَهَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

جابر رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ایک اعرابی نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اسلام پر بیعت کی، پھر اسے مدینہ میں بخار آ گیا تو وہ اعرابی نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پاس آیا اور کہنے لگا، آپ مجھے میری بیعت پھیر دیں، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انکار کیا، پھر وہ دوبارہ آپ کے پاس آیا اور کہنے لگا: آپ میری بیعت مجھے پھیر دیں تو پھر آپ نے انکار کیا، پھر وہ اعرابی مدینہ چھوڑ کر چلا گیا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”مدینہ ایک بھٹی کے مثل ہے جو دور کر دیتا ہے اپنے کھوٹ کو اور خالص کر دیتا ہے پاک کو“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے بھی روایت ہے۔

Narrated Sa'eed bin Al-Musayyab: that Abu Hurairah used to say: If I saw hyenas roaming in Al-Madinah, I would not advance upon them. Indeed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whatever is between its two lava tracts is sacred.'

Narrated Anas bin Malik: that (mount) Uhud appeared to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) so he said: This mountain loves us and we love it. O Allah! Indeed Ibrahim made Makkah sacred, and I make sacred whatever is between its (i.e. Al-Madinah) two lava tracts.

Narrated Jarir bin 'Abdullah: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Indeed Allah has revealed to me that: Whichever of these three places you go to will be the place of your emigration: Al-Madinah, Bahrain, or Qinnasrin.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: No one is patient with the difficulties and hardships of Al-Madinah, except that I am an intercessor, or a witness for him on the Day of Judgement.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Adi bin Hamra [Az-Zuhri]: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) standing at Al-Hazwarah, and he said: By Allah! You are the best of Allah's earth, and the most beloved of Allah's earth to Allah, and if it were not that I was expelled from you I would not have left.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said about Makkah: How sweet of a land you are and how dear you are to me, and if it were not that my people expelled me from you, I would not have lived in other than you.
