Narrated Muhammad bin Usamah bin Zaid: from his father, that he said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) became weak, I marched and the people marched upon Al-Madinah. I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he was unable to speak (because of weakness), so he did not say anything. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) began to place his hands upon me and then raise them up, so I knew he was supplicating for me.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ السَّبَّاقِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا ثَقُلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَبَطْتُ وَهَبَطَ النَّاسُ الْمَدِينَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ أُصْمَتَ،‏‏‏‏ فَلَمْ يَتَكَلَّمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَضَعُ يَدَيْهِ عَلَيَّ وَيَرْفَعُهُمَا،‏‏‏‏ فَأَعْرِفُ أَنَّهُ يَدْعُو لِي . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ.
اسامہ بن زید رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی بیماری شدید ہو گئی تو میں ( «جرف» سے ) اتر کر مدینہ آیا اور ( میرے ساتھ ) کچھ اور لوگ بھی آئے، میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس اندر گیا تو آپ کی زبان بند ہو چکی تھی، پھر اس کے بعد آپ کچھ نہیں بولے، آپ اپنے دونوں ہاتھ میرے اوپر رکھتے اور اٹھاتے تھے تو میں یہی سمجھ رہا تھا کہ آپ میرے لیے دعا فرما رہے ہیں۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے۔

Narrated Usamah bin Zaid: I was sitting [with the Prophet (ﷺ)] when 'Ali and Al-'Abbas came seeking permission to enter. They said: 'O Usamah, seek permission for us from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).' So I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, 'Ali and Al-'Abbas seek permission to enter.' He said: 'Do you know what has brought them?' I said: 'No [I do not know].' So the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'But I know, grant them permission.' So they entered and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we have come to you, to ask you which of your family is most beloved to you.' He said: 'Fatimah bint Muhammad.' So they said: 'We did not come to ask you about (immediate) family.' He said: 'The most beloved of my family to me is the one whom Allah favored and I favored, Usamah bin Zaid.' They said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Then 'Ali bin Abi Talib.' Al-'Abbas said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you have made your uncle the last of them.' He said: 'Indeed, 'Ali has preceded you in emigration.'
