Narrated 'Amir bin Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas: from his father, saying Mu'awiyah bin Abu Sufyan ordered Sa'd, saying 'What prevented you from reviling Abu Turab?' He said: 'Three things that I remember from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prevent me from reviling him. That I should have even one those things is more beloved to me than red camels. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) speaking to 'Ali, and he had left him behind in one of his battles. So 'Ali said to him: O Messenger of Allah! You leave me behind with women and children? So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: Are you not pleased that you should be in the position with me that Harun was with Musa? Except that there is no Prophethood after me? And on the Day of (the battle of) Khaibar, I heard him saying: I shall give the banner to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him. So we all waited for that, then he said: Call 'Ali for me. He said: 'So he came to him, and he had been suffering from Ramad (an eye condition), so he (ﷺ) put spittle in his eye and gave the banner to him, then Allah granted him victory. And when this Ayah was revealed: 'Let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women...' (3:61) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called 'Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husain and said: O Allah, these are my family.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مِسْمَارٍ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَمَّرَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ سَعْدًا،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تَسُبَّ أَبَا تُرَابٍ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَمَّا مَا ذَكَرْتَ ثَلَاثًا قَالَهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَنْ أَسُبَّهُ لَأَنْ تَكُونَ لِي وَاحِدَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حُمْرِ النَّعَمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لِعَلِيٍّ وَخَلَفَهُ فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تَخْلُفُنِي مَعَ النِّسَاءِ وَالصِّبْيَانِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَا نُبُوَّةَ بَعْدِي ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ:‏‏‏‏ لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَتَطَاوَلْنَا لَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ادْعُوا لِي عَلِيًّا ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَتَاهُ وَبِهِ رَمَدٌ فَبَصَقَ فِي عَيْنِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَفَعَ الرَّايَةَ إِلَيْهِ فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ نَدْعُ أَبْنَاءَنَا وَأَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَنِسَاءَنَا وَنِسَاءَكُمْ سورة آل عمران آية 61 الْآيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏دَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلِيًّا،‏‏‏‏ وَفَاطِمَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَحَسَنًا،‏‏‏‏ وَحُسَيْنًا،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلِي . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ معاویہ بن ابی سفیان رضی الله عنہ نے ان کو امیر بنایا تو پوچھا کہ تم ابوتراب ( علی ) کو برا بھلا کیوں نہیں کہتے؟ انہوں نے کہا: جب تک مجھے وہ تین باتیں یاد رہیں گی جنہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے میں انہیں ہرگز برا نہیں کہہ سکتا، اور ان میں سے ایک کا بھی میرے لیے ہونا مجھے اس بات سے زیادہ محبوب ہے کہ میرے لیے سرخ اونٹ ہوں، میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو علی رضی الله عنہ سے فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے ( آپ نے انہیں اپنے کسی غزوہ میں مدینہ میں اپنا جانشیں مقرر کیا تھا تو آپ سے علی رضی الله عنہ نے کہا تھا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ مجھے عورتوں اور بچوں کے ساتھ چھوڑے جا رہے ہیں ) ، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: ”کیا تمہیں یہ پسند نہیں کہ تم میرے لیے اسی طرح ہو جس طرح ہارون موسیٰ کے لیے تھے، مگر فرق صرف اتنا ہے کہ میرے بعد نبوت نہیں“ ۱؎، اور دوسری یہ کہ میں نے آپ کو خیبر کے دن فرماتے ہوئے سنا کہ آج میں پرچم ایک ایسے شخص کے ہاتھ میں دوں گا جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول سے محبت کرتا ہے اور اس سے اللہ اور اس کے رسول بھی محبت کرتے ہیں، سعد بن ابی وقاص کہتے ہیں تو ہم سب نے اس کے لیے اپنی گردنیں بلند کیں، یعنی ہم سب کو اس کی خواہش ہوئی، آپ نے فرمایا: ”علی کو بلاؤ“، چنانچہ وہ آپ کے پاس آئے اور انہیں آشوب چشم کی شکایت تھی تو آپ نے اپنا لعاب مبارک ان کی آنکھ میں لگایا اور پرچم انہیں دے دیا چنانچہ اللہ نے انہیں فتح دی، تیسری بات یہ ہے کہ جب آیت کریمہ «ندع أبناءنا وأبناءكم ونساءنا ونساءكم» اتری۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے علی، فاطمہ، حسن اور حسین رضی الله عنہم کو بلایا اور فرمایا: ”اے اللہ! یہ میرے اہل ہیں“ ۲؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث اس سند سے حسن صحیح غریب ہے۔

Narrated Al-Bara: The Prophet (ﷺ) dispatched two armies and put 'Ali bin Abi Talib in charge of one of them, and Khalid bin Al-Walid in charge of the other. He said: When there is fighting, then (the leader is) 'Ali. He said: So 'Ali conquered a fortress and took a slave girl. So Khalid sent me with a letter to the Prophet (ﷺ) complaining about him. So I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he read the letter and his color changed, then he said: 'What is your view concerning one who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him.' He said: I said: 'I seek refuge in Allah from the wrath of Allah and the anger of His Messenger, and I am but a Messenger.' So he became silent.

Narrated Jabir: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called 'Ali on the Day (of the battle) of At-Ta'if, and spoke privately with him, so the people said: 'His private conversation with his cousin has grown lengthy.' So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'I did not speak privately with him, rather Allah spoke privately with him.'

Narrated Abu Sa'eed: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to 'Ali: O 'Ali! It is not permissible for anyone to be Junub in this Masjid except for you and I.
