Narrated 'Imran bin Husain: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) dispatched an army and he put 'Ali bin Abi Talib in charge of it. He left on the expedition and he entered upon a female slave. So four of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) scolded him, and they made a pact saying: [If] we meet the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) we will inform him of what 'Ali did. When the Muslims returned from the journey, they would begin with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and give him Salam, then they would go to their homes. So when the expedition arrived, they gave Salam to the Prophet (ﷺ), and one of the four stood saying: O Messenger of Allah! Do you see that 'Ali bin Abi Talib did such and such. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) turned away from him. Then the second one stood and said as he said, and he turned away from him. Then the third stood before him, and said as he said, and he turned away from him. Then the fourth stood and said as they had said. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) faced him, and the anger was visible on his face, he said: What do you want from 'Ali?! What do you want from 'Ali?! Indeed 'Ali is from me, and I am from him, and he is the ally of every believer after me.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرِّشْكِ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَيْشًا،‏‏‏‏ وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَمَضَى فِي السَّرِيَّةِ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَصَابَ جَارِيَةً،‏‏‏‏ فَأَنْكَرُوا عَلَيْهِ،‏‏‏‏ وَتَعَاقَدَ أَرْبَعَةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا لَقِينَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرْنَاهُ بِمَا صَنَعَ عَلِيٌّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِذَا رَجَعُوا مِنَ السَّفَرِ بَدَءُوا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْهِ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا إِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا قَدِمَتِ السَّرِيَّةُ سَلَّمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَامَ أَحَدُ الْأَرْبَعَةِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ صَنَعَ كَذَا وَكَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ الثَّانِي فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَقَالَتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ الثَّالِثُ فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَقَالَتِهِ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ الرَّابِعُ فَقَالَ مِثْلَ مَا قَالُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْغَضَبُ يُعْرَفُ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا تُرِيدُونَ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ،‏‏‏‏ مَا تُرِيدُونَ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ،‏‏‏‏ مَا تُرِيدُونَ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّ عَلِيًّا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ،‏‏‏‏ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّ كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ بَعْدِي . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ.

عمران بن حصین رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک سریہ ( لشکر ) روانہ کیا اور اس لشکر کا امیر علی رضی الله عنہ کو مقرر کیا، چنانچہ وہ اس سریہ ( لشکر ) میں گئے، پھر ایک لونڈی سے انہوں نے جماع کر لیا ۱؎ لوگوں نے ان پر نکیر کی اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اصحاب میں سے چار آدمیوں نے طے کیا اور کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے جب ہم ملیں گے تو علی نے جو کچھ کیا ہے اسے ہم آپ کو بتائیں گے، اور مسلمان جب سفر سے لوٹتے تو پہلے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ملتے اور آپ کو سلام کرتے تھے، پھر اپنے گھروں کو جاتے، چنانچہ جب یہ سریہ واپس لوٹ کر آیا اور لوگوں نے آپ کو سلام کیا تو ان چاروں میں سے ایک شخص کھڑا ہوا اور اس نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا آپ کو معلوم نہیں کہ علی نے ایسا ایسا کیا ہے؟ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے منہ پھیر لیا، پھر دوسرا کھڑا ہوا تو دوسرے نے بھی وہی بات کہی جو پہلے نے کہی تھی تو آپ نے اس سے بھی منہ پھیر لیا، پھر تیسرا شخص کھڑا ہوا اس نے بھی وہی بات کہی، تو اس سے بھی آپ نے منہ پھیر لیا، پھر چوتھا شخص کھڑا ہوا تو اس نے بھی وہی بات کہی جو ان لوگوں نے کہی تھی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور آپ کے چہرے سے ناراضگی ظاہر تھی۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”تم لوگ علی کے سلسلہ میں کیا چاہتے ہو؟ تم لوگ علی کے سلسلہ میں کیا چاہتے ہو؟ علی مجھ سے ہیں اور میں علی سے ہوں ۱؎ اور وہ دوست ہیں ہر اس مومن کا جو میرے بعد آئے گا“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ہم اسے صرف جعفر بن سلیمان کی روایت سے جانتے ہیں۔

Narrated Abu Sarihah, or Zaid bin Arqam - Shu'bah had doubt: from the Prophet (ﷺ): For whomever I am his Mawla then 'Ali is his Mawla.

Narrated 'Ali bin Abi Talib: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: May Allah have mercy upon Abu Bakr, he married me to his daughter, and he carried me to the land of Hijrah, and he freed Bilal with his wealth. May Allah have mercy upon 'Umar, he says the truth even if it is sour. The truth caused him to be left without a friend. May Allah have mercy upon 'Uthman, the angels are shy of him. May Allah have mercy upon 'Ali. O Allah! Place the truth with him wherever he turns.

Narrated Rib'i bin Hirash: At Ar-Rahbah, 'Ali narrated us: 'On the Day of (the Pledge of) Hudaibiyah, some people from the idolaters came out to us. Among them was Suhail bin 'Amr, and some people among the heads of the idolaters. They said: O Messenger of Allah! People among our fathers, brothers, and slaves have come to you, and they have no knowledge of the religion, rather they came fleeing from our wealth and property, so return them to us. If they do not have knowledge of the religion, then we will teach them. So the Prophet (ﷺ) said: O people of Quraish, you will desist, or Allah will send upon you one who will chop your necks with the sword over the religion. Allah has tested their hearts regarding faith. They said: Who is he O Messenger of Allah? Abu Bakr said to him: Who is he O Messenger of Allah? 'Umar said to him: Who is he O Messenger of Allah? He said: He is the one repairing the sandals. - And he had given 'Ali his sandals to repair them. - He said: Then 'Ali turned to us and said: 'Indeed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoever lies upon me intentionally, then let him take his seat in the Fire.

Narrated Al-Bara bin 'Azib: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to 'Ali bin Abi Talib: You are from me, and I am from you. And there is a story along with this Hadith.

Narrated Buraidah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Indeed Allah has ordered me to love four, and He informed me that He loves them. It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Name them for us. He said: 'Ali is among them, saying that three times, And Abu Dharr, Al-Miqdad, and Salman. And He ordered me to love them, and He informed me that He loves them.
