Anas conveyed that : the Prophet said: When supper is present and the Iqamah for Salat has been called, then begin with supper.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا حَضَرَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ وَسَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلَيْهِ الْعَمَلُ عِنْدَ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْهُمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعُمَرُ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنُ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ أَحْمَدُ،‏‏‏‏ وَإِسْحَاق يَقُولَانِ:‏‏‏‏ يَبْدَأُ بِالْعَشَاءِ وَإِنْ فَاتَتْهُ الصَّلَاةُ فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْت الْجَارُودَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ وَكِيعًا يَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ:‏‏‏‏ يَبْدَأُ بِالْعَشَاءِ إِذَا كَانَ طَعَامًا يَخَافُ فَسَادَهُ وَالَّذِي ذَهَبَ إِلَيْهِ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ أَشْبَهُ بِالِاتِّبَاعِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنَّمَا أَرَادُوا أَنْ لَا يَقُومَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَقَلْبُهُ مَشْغُولٌ بِسَبَبِ شَيْءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا نَقُومُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَفِي أَنْفُسِنَا شَيْءٌ.

انس رضی الله عنہ سے کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب شام کا کھانا حاضر ہو، اور نماز کھڑی کر دی جائے ۱؎ تو پہلے کھا لو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- انس رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عائشہ، ابن عمر، سلمہ بن اکوع، اور ام سلمہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- صحابہ کرام میں سے اہل علم کا اسی پر عمل ہے۔ انہیں میں سے ابوبکر، عمر اور ابن عمر رضی الله عنہم بھی ہیں، اور یہی احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی کہتے ہیں کہ پہلے کھانا کھائے اگرچہ جماعت چھوٹ جائے۔ ۴- اس حدیث کے بارے میں کہتے ہیں کہ وہ پہلے کھانا کھائے گا جب اسے کھانا خراب ہونے کا اندیشہ ہو، لیکن جس کی طرف صحابہ کرام وغیرہ میں سے بعض اہل علم گئے ہیں، وہ اتباع کے زیادہ لائق ہے، ان لوگوں کا مقصود یہ ہے کہ آدمی ایسی حالت میں نماز میں نہ کھڑا ہو کہ اس کا دل کسی چیز کے سبب مشغول ہو، اور ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ہم نماز کے لیے کھڑے نہیں ہوتے جب تک ہمارا دل کسی اور چیز میں لگا ہوتا ہے۔

Ibn Umar narrated that: the Prophet said: When the supper is presented and the Iqamah is called for Salat, then begin with the supper.

Aishah narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: When one of you is sleepy and he is performing Salat, then let him lie down until the sleep is gone from him. For when one of you performs Salat while he is sleepy, perhaps he wants to seek forgiveness but he curses himself.

Abu Atiyyah narrated that : a man among them said: Malik bin Al-Huwairith came to us in our Musalla to narrate. One day when it was time for Salat, we told him to go ahead (to lead the prayer). He said: 'Let one of you go forward, until I narrate to you why I would not go forward (to lead prayer): I heard Allah's Messenger saying: Whoever visits a people, then he does not lead them, but a man among them leads them.

Thawban narrated that : the Prophet said: It is not allowed for a man to look into the interior of a man's house until he has been given permission, for if he looks, then he has entered. And one who leads people (in Salat) should not supplicate for himself alone with the exclusion of his congregation. If he does, then he has betrayed them. And one is not to stand for Salat while he has to urinate.

Anas bin Malik narrated: Allah's Messenger cursed three people: A man who leads people (in Salat) while they dislike him, a woman who spends a night while her husband with her, and a man who hears: 'Hayya Alal Falah (come to success)' then does not respond.

Amr bin Al-Harith Al-Mustaliq said: It used to be said that the people with the worst punishment [on the Day of Judgment] are two: A woman who disobeyed her husband, and a people's Imam whom they dislike.
