Narrated 'Abdullah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whoever takes a false oath to deprive a Muslim of his property, he will meet Allah while He is angry with him. So Al-Ash'ath bin Qais said: By Allah! This was about me. There was a dispute between myself and a Jewish man who denied my right, and I complained against him to the Prophet (ﷺ). So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: 'Do you have any proof?' I said: 'No.' So he said to the Jew: 'Take an oath.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! If he takes an oath then I will lose my property.' So Allah, Blessed and Most High, revealed: Verily those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's covenant and their oaths... until the end of the Ayah. (3:77)

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ هُوَ فِيهَا فَاجِرٌ لِيَقْتَطِعَ بِهَا مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ غَضْبَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ:‏‏‏‏ فِيَّ وَاللَّهِ كَانَ ذَلِكَ كَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ أَرْضٌ فَجَحَدَنِي فَقَدَّمْتُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَكَ بَيِّنَةٌ ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لِلْيَهُودِيِّ:‏‏‏‏ احْلِفْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِذَنْ يَحْلِفُ فَيَذْهَبُ بِمَالِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا سورة آل عمران آية 77 إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى.

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے کسی امر پر قسم کھائی اور وہ جھوٹا ہو اور قسم اس لیے کھائی تاکہ وہ اس کے ذریعہ کسی مسلمان کا مال ناحق لے لے تو جب وہ ( قیامت میں ) اللہ سے ملے گا، اس وقت اللہ اس سخت غضبناک ہو گا“۔ اشعث بن قیس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں: قسم اللہ کی! یہ حدیث میرے بارے میں ہے۔ میرے اور ایک یہودی شخص کے درمیان ایک ( مشترک ) زمین تھی، اس نے اس میں میری حصہ داری کا انکار کر دیا، تو میں اسے لے کر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس پہنچا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا: ”کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی دلیل و ثبوت ہے؟“ میں نے کہا: نہیں، پھر آپ نے یہودی سے فرمایا: ”تم قسم کھاؤ“، میں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! تب تو یہ قسم کھا کر میرا مال لے جائے گا، تو اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت: «إن الذين يشترون بعهد الله وأيمانهم ثمنا قليلا» ۱؎ نازل فرمائی۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابن ابی اوفی رضی الله عنہ سے بھی روایت ہے۔

Narrated Anas: When this Ayah was revealed: By no means shall you attain Al-Birr unless you spend of that which you love (3:92). Or, '...Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan... (2:245)' Abu Talhah - who had a garden - said: 'O Messenger of Allah! My garden is for Allah, and if I was able to keep it secret I would not make it public.' So he said: 'Keep it for your relatives' or 'your close relatives.'

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: A man stood before the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: 'Who is the (real) Hajj pilgrim, O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'The one with dishevelled hair who smells bad.' So another man stood and said: 'Which Hajj is most virtuous, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'The one with loud voices and blood (of the sacrifice).' Another man stood and said: 'What is 'the means', O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Provisions and a mount.'

Narrated 'Amir bin Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas: from his father who said: When this Ayah was revealed: 'Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women... (3:61)' the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) called 'Ali, Fatimah, Hasan and Husain and said: 'O Allah! This is my family.'

Narrated Abu Ghalib: Abu Umamah saw heads (of the Khawarij) hanging on the streets of Damascus. He said: 'The dogs of the Fire and the worst dead people under the canopy of the heavens. The best dead men are those whom these have killed.' He then recited: On the Day when some faces will become white and some faces will become black... (3:106) until the end of the Ayah. I said to Abu Umamah: 'Did you hear it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?' He said: 'If I had not heard it but one time, or two times, or three times, or four times - until he reached seven - I would not have narrated it to you.'

Narrated Bahz bin Hakim: from his father, from his grandfather that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying about Allah, Most High saying: 'You are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind... (3:110) He said: 'You are the completion of seventy nations, you are the best of them, and the most honorable of them to Allah.

Narrated Anas: On the Day of Uhud, the incisors of the Prophet (ﷺ) were broken, and he had a facial wound in the area of the forehead, such that the blood flowed over his face. He said: 'How can a people that do this to their Prophet succeed, while he is calling them to Allah?' So the following was revealed: Not for you is the decision; whether He turns in mercy towards them or punished them... (3:128) until its end.
