Narrated Bahz bin Hakim: from his father, from his grandfather that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying about Allah, Most High saying: 'You are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind... (3:110) He said: 'You are the completion of seventy nations, you are the best of them, and the most honorable of them to Allah.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ بَهْزِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى:‏‏‏‏ كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ سورة آل عمران آية 110، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّكُمْ تَتِمُّونَ سَبْعِينَ أُمَّةً أَنْتُمْ خَيْرُهَا وَأَكْرَمُهَا عَلَى اللَّهِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ بَهْزِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ نَحْوَ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَذْكُرُوا فِيهِ كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ سورة آل عمران آية 110

معاویہ بن حیدہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اللہ تعالیٰ کے قول «كنتم خير أمة أخرجت للناس» ۱؎ کی تفسیر کرتے ہوئے سنا: ”تم ستر امتوں کا تتمہ ( و تکملہ ) ہو، تم اللہ کے نزدیک ان سب سے بہتر اور سب سے زیادہ باعزت ہو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن ہے، ۲- متعدد لوگوں نے بہز بن حکیم سے یہ حدیث اسی طرح روایت کی ہے، لیکن ان راویوں نے اس میں آیت «كنتم خير أمة أخرجت للناس» کا ذکر نہیں کیا ہے۔

Narrated Anas: On the Day of Uhud, the incisors of the Prophet (ﷺ) were broken, and he had a facial wound in the area of the forehead, such that the blood flowed over his face. He said: 'How can a people that do this to their Prophet succeed, while he is calling them to Allah?' So the following was revealed: Not for you is the decision; whether He turns in mercy towards them or punished them... (3:128) until its end.

Narrated Anas: The face of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was wounded, his incisors were broken, and he was struck by an arrow on his shoulder. While blood was flowing over his face and he was wiping it, he said: 'How can a nation succeed while they are doing this to their Prophet and he is calling them to Allah?' So Allah, Most High revealed: Not for you is the decision; whether He turns in mercy towards them or punishes them; verily they are the wrongdoers (3:128).

Narrated Salim bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: from his father: On the Day of Uhud, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Allah! Curse Abu Sufyan! O Allah! Curse Al-Harith bin Hisham! O Allah! Curse Safwan bin Umayyah!' He said: 'So the following was revealed: Not for you is the decision; whether He turns in mercy towards them [or punishes them] (3:128).' So Allah turned in mercy towards them, they accepted Islam and their (adherence to) Islam was good.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was supplicating against four people, so Allah, Blessed and Most High, revealed: Not for you is the decision; whether He turns in mercy towards them or punishes them; verily they are the wrongdoers (3:128). So Allah guided them to Islam.

Narrated Asma bin Al-Hakam Al-Farazi: I heard 'Ali saying: 'Indeed I am a man who, when I hear a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then Allah causes me to benefit from it as much as He wills for me to benefit from it. When a man among his Companions narrates to me I ask him to swear an oath to me, about it, and when he swears an oath to me I trust him. And Abu Bakr narrated to me - and Abu Bakr told the truth - he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: 'There is no man who commits a sin, then stands for purification, then performs Salat, then seeks forgiveness from Allah, except that Allah forgives him.' Then he recites this Ayah: Those who, when they have committed Fahishah or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah... (3:135) until the end of the Ayah.

Narrated Anas: that Abu Talhah said: I raised my head to look around on the Day of Uhud, and there was not one of them that day except that he was swaying under his shield due to drowsiness. Allah said about that: Then He sent down upon you - after the distress - a slumber of security (3:154).
