Al-Bara said: When we performed Salat behind Allah's Messenger, he would raise his head from bowing, and no man among us would bend his back until Allah's Messenger prostrated, then we prostrated.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْبَرَاءُ وَهُوَ غَيْرُ كَذُوبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ لَمْ يَحْنِ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا ظَهْرَهُ حَتَّى يَسْجُدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَسْجُدَ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَنَسٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَمُعَاوِيَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَابْنِ مَسْعَدَةَ صَاحِبِ الْجُيُوشِ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ الْبَرَاءِ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ إِنَّ مَنْ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ إِنَّمَا يَتْبَعُونَ الْإِمَامَ فِيمَا يَصْنَعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا يَرْكَعُونَ إِلَّا بَعْدَ رُكُوعِهِ وَلَا يَرْفَعُونَ إِلَّا بَعْدَ رَفْعِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْلَمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فِي ذَلِكَ اخْتِلَافًا.

براء بن عازب رضی الله عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے نماز پڑھتے اور جب آپ اپنا سر رکوع سے اٹھاتے تو ہم میں سے کوئی بھی شخص اپنی پیٹھ ( سجدے کے لیے ) اس وقت تک نہیں جھکاتا تھا جب تک کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سجدے میں نہ چلے جاتے، آپ سجدے میں چلے جاتے تو ہم سجدہ کرتے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- براء رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں انس، معاویہ، ابن مسعدہ صاحب جیوش، اور ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اور یہی اہل علم کہتے ہیں یعنی: جو امام کے پیچھے ہو وہ ان تمام امور میں جنہیں امام کر رہا ہو امام کی پیروی کرے، یعنی اسے امام کے بعد کرے، امام کے رکوع میں جانے کے بعد ہی رکوع میں جائے اور اس کے سر اٹھانے کے بعد ہی اپنا سر اٹھائے، ہمیں اس مسئلہ میں ان کے درمیان کسی اختلاف کا علم نہیں ہے۔

Ali narrated: Allah's Messenger said to me: 'O Ali! I love for you what I love for myself, and I dislike for you what I dislike for myself. Do not squat between prostrations.'

Tawus said: We asked Ibn Abbas about squatting (sitting) on the heels. He said: 'It is the Sunnah.' We said: 'We think that it is difficult for a man.' He said: 'Rather, it is Sunnah of your Prophet.'

Ibn Abbas narrated: Between the two prostrations, the Prophet would say: (Allahummaghfir li, warhamni, wajburni, wahdini, warzuqni). 'O Allah! Pardon me, have mercy on me, help me, guide me, and grant me sustenance.'

Abu Hurairah narrated: [Some of] the Companions of the Prophet complained [to the Prophet] about the hardship of the prostration on them, when they were so spread out, so he said: 'Use your knees.'

Malik bin Al-Huwairith Al-Laithi narrated that he saw : Allah's Messenger performing Salat. When he was in an odd number of his Salat, he would not get up until he had sat completely.
