Abu Hurairah narrated: [Some of] the Companions of the Prophet complained [to the Prophet] about the hardship of the prostration on them, when they were so spread out, so he said: 'Use your knees.'

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اشْتَكَى بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَشَقَّةَ السُّجُودِ عَلَيْهِمْ إِذَا تَفَرَّجُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اسْتَعِينُوا بِالرُّكَبِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْ حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَأَنَّ رِوَايَةَ هَؤُلَاءِ أَصَحُّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ اللَّيْثِ.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ بعض صحابہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سجدے میں دونوں ہاتھوں کو دونوں پہلوؤں سے اور پیٹ کو ران سے جدا رکھنے کی صورت میں ( تکلیف کی ) شکایت کی، تو آپ نے فرمایا: گھٹنوں سے ( ان پر ٹیک لگا کر ) مدد لے لیا کرو ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے، ہم سے ابوصالح کی حدیث جسے انہوں نے ابوہریرہ سے اور ابوہریرہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے صرف اسی طریق سے ( یعنی لیث عن ابن عجلان کے طریق سے ) جانتے ہیں اور سفیان بن عیینہ اور دیگر کئی لوگوں نے یہ حدیث بطریق: «سمى عن النعمان بن أبي عياش عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم» ( اسی طرح ) روایت کی ہے، ان لوگوں کی روایت لیث کی روایت کے مقابلے میں شاید زیادہ صحیح ہے۔

Malik bin Al-Huwairith Al-Laithi narrated that he saw : Allah's Messenger performing Salat. When he was in an odd number of his Salat, he would not get up until he had sat completely.

Abu Hurairah narrated: Allah's Messenger would get up during his Salat on the tips of his feet.

Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrated: Allah's Messenger taught us, that when we sit for every two Rak'ah we should say: (At-Tahyyatulillah, was-salawatu wattayybaat. As-salamu alaika ayyuhannabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, as-salamu alaina wa ala ibadillahis-salihin. Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah wa ashadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa Rasuluh.) 'All greetings, prayers, and pure words are Allah. Peace be upon you O Prophet, and Allah's mercy and His blessings. Peace be upon us and all of the righteous worshippers of Allah. I testify that nne has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is Allah's servant and Messenger.'

Ibn Abbas narrated: Allah's Messenger would teach us the Tashah-hud just as he would teach us the Qur'an. He would say: (At-Tahiyyatu, al mubarakatu, as-salawatu at-tayyibatulillah. Salamun alaika ayyuhan-naibiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, salamun alaina wa ala ibadalillahis-salihin. Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa Raduluh.) 'All greetings, goodness, prayers, and pure words are for Allah. Peace be upon you O Prophet, and Allah's mercy and His blessings, Peace be upon us and all of the righteous worshippers of Allah. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is Allah's worshipper and Messenger.'

Wa'il bin Hujr said: I arrived in Al-Madinah and I said, 'Let me look at the Salat of Allah's Messenger.' When he sat - meaning for At-Tashah-hud - he spread his left foot, and placed his left hand - meaning on his left thigh - and held his right foot erect.
