Ubadah bin As-Samil narrated that : the Prophet said: There is no Salat for the one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْمَكِّيُّ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْعَدَنِيُّ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا صَلَاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ عُبَادَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْهُمْ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَغَيْرُهُمْ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ لَا تُجْزِئُ صَلَاةٌ إِلَّا بِقِرَاءَةِ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ:‏‏‏‏ كُلُّ صَلَاةٍ لَمْ يُقْرَأْ فِيهَا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ غَيْرُ تَمَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالشَّافِعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏سَمِعْت ابْنَ أَبِي عُمَرَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اخْتَلَفْتُ إِلَى ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ سَنَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَانَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ أَكْبَرَ مِنِّي بِسَنَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وسَمِعْت ابْنَ أَبِي عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ حَجَجْتُ سَبْعِينَ حَجَّةً مَاشِيًا عَلَى قَدَمَيَّ.

عبادہ بن صامت رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اس کی نماز نہیں جس نے سورۃ فاتحہ نہیں پڑھی“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- عبادہ بن صامت کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابوہریرہ، عائشہ، انس، ابوقتادہ اور عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- صحابہ کرام میں سے اکثر اہل علم جن میں عمر بن خطاب، علی بن ابی طالب، جابر بن عبداللہ اور عمران بن حصین وغیرہم رضی الله عنہم شامل ہیں کا اسی پر عمل ہے۔ ان لوگوں کا کہنا ہے کہ سورۃ فاتحہ پڑھے بغیر نماز کفایت نہیں کرتی، علی بن ابی طالب رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں: جس نماز میں سورۃ فاتحہ نہیں پڑھی گئی وہ ناقص اور ناتمام ہے۔ یہی ابن مبارک، شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی کہتے ہیں۔

Wa'il bin Hujr narrated: I heard the Prophet recite: (Not (the way) of those who earned Your anger, nor those who went astray) and he said: 'Amin.' And he stretched it out with his voice.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Prophet said When the Imam says 'Amin' then (all of you) say 'Amin.' For whoever's 'Amin' concurs with the 'Amin' of the angels, then his past sins will be forgiven.

Al-Hasan narrated that : Samurah said: there are two pauses that I preserved from Allah's Messenger. But Imran bin Husain rejected that and said: We preserved one pause. So we wrote to Ubayy bin Ka'b in Al-Madinah. Ubayy wrote that Samurah was correct. Sa'eed said: We said to Qatadah: 'What are those two pauses?' He said: 'When he entered into his Salat, and when he finished his recitation.' Then he (Qatadah) said after that: 'And when he recited (Nor those who went astray.)' And he said: 'He liked to pause when he finished the recitation until he caught his breath.'
