Samurah bin Jundub narrated: Allah's Messenger ordered us that when we were three, then one of us should stand forward.
حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كُنَّا ثَلَاثَةً أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَنَا أَحَدُنَا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ سَمُرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا كَانُوا ثَلَاثَةً قَامَ رَجُلَانِ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرُوِيَ عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى بِعَلْقَمَةَ وَالْأَسْوَدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَقَامَ أَحَدَهُمَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَالْآخَرَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ تَكَلَّمَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ فِي إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْمَكِّيِّ مِنْ قِبَلِ حِفْظِهِ.
سمرہ بن جندب رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں حکم دیا کہ جب ہم تین ہوں تو ہم میں سے ایک آگے بڑھ جائے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- سمرہ رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابن مسعود، جابر اور انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اہل علم کا عمل اسی پر ہے کہ جب تین آدمی ہوں تو دو آدمی امام کے پیچھے کھڑے ہوں، ابن مسعود رضی الله عنہ نے علقمہ اور اسود کو نماز پڑھائی تو ان دونوں میں سے ایک کو اپنے دائیں طرف اور دوسرے کو بائیں طرف کھڑا کیا اور ابن مسعود رضی الله عنہ اسے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کیا، ۴- بعض لوگوں نے اسماعیل بن مسلم مکی پر ان کے حفظ کے تعلق سے کلام کیا ہے ۱؎۔

Anas bin Malik narrated: My grandmother Mutalikah invited Allah's Messenger to a meal that she prepared. He ate from it, then said: 'Stand so tht we may lead you in prayer.' He said: I got a Hasir of our which had become dark because of prolonged use, so I washed it with water. Allah's Messenger stood on it, and the orphan and I aligned behind him and the only lady stood behind us. He (Allah's Messenger) led us in two Rak'ah of prayer and then left.

Abu Mas'ud narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: The one who recites most of the Book of Allah is to lead the people (in prayers). If they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable in the Sunnah among them. If they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest of them to emigrate. If they are equal in their emigration then the eldest among them. And a man is not to be led in prayer in the place of his authority, and his spot of esteem in his home is not to be sat on without his permission.

Abu Sa'eed narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: the key to Salat is the purification, its Tahrim is the Takbir, and its Tahlilis the Taslim, and there is no Salat for one who did not recite Al-Hamd and a Surah in the obligatory (prayer) or other prayers.
