Ibn Abbas narrated: A red velvet cloth was placed in the grave of the Prophet.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جُعِلَ فِي قَبْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَطِيفَةٌ حَمْرَاءُ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ فِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، وَيَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الْقَصَّابِ وَاسْمُهُ:‏‏‏‏ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ أَبِي عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ الضُّبَعِيِّ وَاسْمُهُ:‏‏‏‏ نَصْرُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكِلَاهُمَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِى عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ أَنْ يُلْقَى تَحْتَ الْمَيِّتِ فِي الْقَبْرِ شَيْءٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِلَى هَذَا ذَهَبَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی قبر میں ایک لال چادر رکھی گئی۔ اور محمد بن بشار نے دوسری جگہ اس سند میں ابوجمرہ کہا ہے اور یہ زیادہ صحیح ہے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- شعبہ نے ابوحمزہ قصاب سے بھی روایت کی ہے، ان کا نام عمران بن ابی عطا ہے، اور ابوجمرہ ضبعی سے بھی روایت کی گئی ہے، ان کا نام نصر بن عمران ہے۔ یہ دونوں ابن عباس کے شاگرد ہیں، ۳- ابن عباس سے یہ بھی روایت کی گئی ہے کہ انہوں نے قبر میں میت کے نیچے کسی چیز کے بچھانے کو مکروہ جانا ہے۔ بعض اہل علم اسی طرف گئے ہیں۔

Abu Wa'il narrated: Ali said to Abu Al-Hayyaj Al-Asadi: 'I am dispatching you with what the Prophet dispatched me: That you not leave an elevated grave without leveling it, nor an image without erasing it.

Abu Marthan Al-Ghanawi narrated that: The Prophet said: Do not sit on the graves nor perform Salat towards them.

Jabir narrated: The Messenger of Allah prohibited plastering graves, writing on them, building over them, and treading on them.

Ibn Abbas narrated: The Messenger of Allah passed by the graves of Al-Madinah, so he turned his face towards them and said: (As-Salamu alaikum ya ahlul-qubur! Yaghfirul-lahu lana wa lakun, antum salafuna wa nahnu bil-athar.) 'Peace be upon you O inhabitants of the grave! May Allah forgive us and you; you are our predecessors and we are to follow you.'

Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrated from his father that: The Messenger of Allah said: I had prohibited you from visiting the graves. But Muhammad was permitted to visit the grave of his mother: so visit them, for they will remind you of the Hereafter.
