Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrated from his father that: The Messenger of Allah said: I had prohibited you from visiting the graves. But Muhammad was permitted to visit the grave of his mother: so visit them, for they will remind you of the Hereafter.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلَّالُ، قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمِ النَّبِيلُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ قَدْ كُنْتُ نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ زِيَارَةِ الْقُبُورِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَدْ أُذِنَ لِمُحَمَّدٍ فِي زِيَارَةِ قَبْرِ أُمِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَزُورُوهَا فَإِنَّهَا تُذَكِّرُ الْآخِرَةَ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ بُرَيْدَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ لَا يَرَوْنَ بِزِيَارَةِ الْقُبُورِ بَأْسًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ:‏‏‏‏ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالشَّافِعِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاق.
بریدہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”میں نے تمہیں قبروں کی زیارت سے روکا تھا۔ اب محمد کو اپنی ماں کی قبر کی زیارت کی اجازت دے دی گئی ہے۔ تو تم بھی ان کی زیارت کرو، یہ چیز آخرت کو یاد دلاتی ہے“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- بریدہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابو سعید خدری، ابن مسعود، انس، ابوہریرہ اور ام سلمہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اہل علم کا اسی پر عمل ہے۔ وہ قبروں کی زیارت میں کوئی حرج نہیں سمجھتے۔ ابن مبارک، شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ اسی کے قائل ہیں۔

Abdullah bin Abi Mulaikah said: Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr died in Al-Hubshi He said: He was carried to Makkah to be buried there. So when Aishah arrived she went to the grave of Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr and she said: We were like two drinking companions of Jadhimah for such a long time that they would say: 'They will never part.' So when we were separated it was as if I and Malik - due to the length of unity - never spent a night together.

Umar said: 'Granted.' I said to Umar: 'What is granted?' He said: 'I said as the Messenger of Allah said: There is no Muslim about whom three bear witness, except that he is granted Paradise. He said: And two (as well). He said: 'We did not ask the Messenger of Allah about one.'
