It was narrated that 'Ali said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'The screen between the Jinn and the nakedness of the sons of Adam is that when a person enters the Kanif, he should say: Bismillah (in the name of Allah).'
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ بَشِيرِ بْنِ سَلْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا خَلَّادٌ الصَّفَّارُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْحَكَمِ النَّصَرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ سِتْرُ مَا بَيْنَ الْجِنِّ وَعَوْرَاتِ بَنِي آدَمَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْكَنِيفَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْ يَقُولَ:‏‏‏‏ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ .
علی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جنوں اور بنی آدم ( انسانوں ) کی شرمگاہوں کے درمیان پردہ یہ ہے کہ جب کوئی شخص پاخانہ میں داخل ہو تو «بسم اللہ» کہے ۔

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah entered the toilet, he would say: 'A'udhu Billahi minal-khubthi wa'l-khaba'ith (I seek refuge with Allah from male and female devils).'

It was narrated from Abu Umamah that: The Messenger of Allah said: None of you should fail to say, when he enters his toilet: 'Allahumma inni a`udhu bika minar-rijsin-najis, al-khabithil-mukhbith, ash-Shaitanir-rajim (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the filthy and impure, the evil one with evil companions, the accursed Shaitan).' (Da'if) Another chain with a slightly different wording from Ibn Abi Maryam who mentioned similar, but he did not say in his narration: Minar-rijsin-najis (From the filthy and the impure) he only said: Minal-khabithil-mukhbith, ash-Shaitanir-rajim (From the evil one with evil companions, the accursed Shaitan).

Yusuf bin Abi Burdah narrated: I heard my father say: 'I entered upon 'Aishah, and I heard her say: When the Messenger of Allah exited the toilet, he would say: Ghufranaka (I seek Your forgiveness).' (Sahih) Another chain with similar wording.
