Translation

Arabic, english and urdu

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw some sputum in the direction of the Qiblah of the mosque. He turned to the people and said: “What is wrong with one of you that he stands facing Him (meaning his Lord) and spits in front of Him? Would anyone like to be faced by someone who spits in his face? If anyone of you needs to spit, then let him spit to his left, or let him do like this in his garment.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ ّرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا بَالُ أَحَدِكُمْ يَقُومُ مُسْتَقْبِلَهُ يَعْنِي:‏‏‏‏ رَبَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَتَنَخَّعُ أَمَامَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُسْتَقْبَلَ فَيُتَنَخَّعَ فِي وَجْهِهِ؟ إِذَا بَزَقَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْزُقَنَّ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ لِيَقُلْ هَكَذَا فِي ثَوْبِهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَرَانِي إِسْمَاعِيل يَبْزُقُ فِي ثَوْبِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَدْلُكُهُ.

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مسجد میں قبلہ کی سمت بلغم دیکھا، تو لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے، اور فرمایا: لوگوں کو کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے سامنے کھڑے ہو کر اپنے آگے بلغم تھوکتے ہیں؟ کیا تم میں کا کوئی یہ پسند کرے گا کہ دوسرا شخص اس کی طرف منہ کر کے اس کے منہ پر تھوکے؟ جب کوئی شخص نماز کی حالت میں تھوکے تو اپنے بائیں جانب تھوکے، یا اپنے کپڑے میں اس طرح تھوک لے ۔ ابوبکر بن ابی شیبہ کہتے ہیں کہ پھر اسماعیل بن علیہ نے مجھے اپنے کپڑے میں تھوک کر پھر مل کر دکھایا۔

It was narrated from Hudhaifah that he saw Shabath bin Rib’i spitting in front of him. He said: “O Shabath! Do not spit in front of you, for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to forbid that, and he said: ‘When a man stands up to perform prayer, Allah turns His Face towards him until he turns away or he commits an evil Hadath.’”

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) spat on his garment while he was performing prayer, then he rubbed it.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever smoothes the pebbles, then he has engaged in Laghw.”*

It was narrated that Mu’aiqib said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, concerning smoothing the pebbles during prayer: ‘If you must do that, then do it only once.’”

It was narrated that Abu Dharr said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘When anyone of you gets up to perform prayer, then indeed mercy is facing him, so he should not smooth the pebbles.’”
