It was narrated from Abu Shaikh that he heard Mu'awiyah say,: When a group of the Companions of Muhammad [SAW] were with him: Do you know that the Prophet of Allah [SAW] forbade wearing gold unless it was broken (into smaller pieces)? They said: By Allah, yes.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَعِنْدَهُ جَمْعٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا ،‏‏‏‏ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ.

ابوشیخ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو بیان کرتے ہوئے سنا ان کے پاس کے صحابہ کرام کی ایک جماعت بھی تھی، انہوں نے کہا: کیا آپ لوگوں کو معلوم ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سونا پہننے سے منع فرمایا ہے مگر ریزہ ریزہ کر کے؟ انہوں نے کہا: جی ہاں۔

It was narrated from Abu Himman: That when Mu'awiyah went on Hajj, he gathered together a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] at the Ka'bah and said to them: I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid wearing gold? They said: Yes. He said: And I bear witness to that.

Abu Shaikh narrated from his brother Himman: That when Mu'awiyah went on Hajj, he gathered together a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] at the Ka'bah and said to them: I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid wearing gold? They said: Yes. He said: And I bear witness to that.
