Abu Al-Minhal said: I asked Al-Bara bin 'Azib about money exchange. He said: 'Ask Zaid bin Arqam, for he is better than me and more knowledgeable.' So I asked Zaid and he said: 'Ask Al-Bara for he is better than me and more knowledgeable.' And they both said: 'The Messenger of Allah forbade (selling) silver for gold on credit. '

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ عَنِ الصَّرْفِ ؟،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَلْ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمُ،‏‏‏‏ فَسَأَلْتُ زَيْدًا:‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَلْ الْبَرَاءَ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمُ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَا جَمِيعًا:‏‏‏‏ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْوَرِقِ بِالذَّهَبِ دَيْنًا .

ابومنہال کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے بیع صرف کے بارے میں براء بن عازب رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا، تو انہوں نے کہا: زید بن ارقم رضی اللہ عنہ سے معلوم کر لو، وہ مجھ سے بہتر ہیں اور زیادہ جاننے والے ہیں۔ چنانچہ میں نے زید رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا: براء رضی اللہ عنہ سے معلوم کرو وہ مجھ سے بہتر ہیں اور زیادہ جاننے والے ہیں، تو ان دونوں نے کہا: ”رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سونے کے بدلے چاندی ادھار بیچنے سے روکا ہے“۔

He said: 'I did not find it in the Book of Allah, nor did I hear it from the messenger of Allah, rather Usamah bin Zaid told me that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Riba is only in credit. '

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: I used to sell camels at Al-Baqi and I would sell Dinars in exchange for Dirhams. I came to the Prophet in the house of Hafsah and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I want to ask you: I sell camels in Al-Baqi and I sell Dinars in exchange for Dirhams. He said: 'There is nothing wrong with it if you take the price on that day, unless you depart when there is still unfinished business between you both (buyer and seller). '

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: I used to sell gold for silver, or silver for gold. I came to the Messenger of Allah and told him about that, and he said: 'If you make a deal with your companion, d o not leave him when there is still any ambiguity (in the deal) between you. '
