It was narrated that Hisham bin Zaid said; Ans and I entered upon Al-Hakam - that it, Ibn Ayyb - and there were some people shooting at a chicken in the house of the governor. He said: 'The Messenger of Allah forbade using animals as targets;'

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ أَنَسٍ عَلَى الْحَكَمِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَيُّوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا أُنَاسٌ يَرْمُونَ دَجَاجَةً فِي دَارِ الْأَمِيرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُصْبَرَ الْبَهَائِمُ .

ہشام بن زید کہتے ہیں کہ میں انس رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ حکم ( حکم بن ایوب ) کے یہاں گیا تو دیکھا کہ چند لوگ امیر کے گھر میں ایک مرغی کو نشانہ بنا کر مار رہے ہیں، تو انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے منع فرمایا ہے کہ جانوروں کو باندھ کر اس طرح مارا جائے۔
