Hammad bin Zaid said: I said to Ayyub: 'Do you know anyone who said concerning the phrase 'It is up to you' that it is equivalent to three (divorces) except Al-Hasan?' He said: 'No.' Then he said: 'O Allah! Grant forgiveness, sorry.' Qatadah narrated to me from Kathir the freed slave of Ibn Samurah, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet said: Three. I met Kathir and asked him, and he did not know of it. I went back to Qatadah and told him, and he said: He forgot.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ لِأَيُّوبَ:‏‏‏‏ هَلْ عَلِمْتَ أَحَدًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ فِي أَمْرِكِ بِيَدِكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهَا ثَلَاثٌ غَيْرَ الْحَسَنِ ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ غَفْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا مَا حَدَّثَنِي قَتَادَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ كَثِيرٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ سَمُرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثَلَاثٌ ،‏‏‏‏ فَلَقِيتُ كَثِيرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَلَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى قَتَادَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَسِيَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ.

حماد بن زید کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ایوب سے کہا: کیا آپ حسن کے سوا کسی کو جانتے ہیں؟ جو «أمرک بیدک» کہنے سے تین طلاقیں لاگو کرتا ہو؟ انہوں نے کہا نہیں ( میں کسی کو بھی نہیں جانتا ) پھر انہوں نے کہا: اللہ انہیں بخش دے اب رہی قتادہ کی حدیث جو انہوں نے مجھ سے کثیر مولی ابن سمرۃ سے روایت کی ہے اور کثیر نے ابوسلمہ سے انہوں نے ابوہریرہ سے اور ابوہریرہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”وہ تین طلاقیں ہوتی ہیں“ تو ( اس کا حال یہ ہے کہ ) میری ملاقات کثیر سے ہوئی میں نے ان سے ( اس حدیث کے متعلق ) پوچھا تو انہوں نے اسے پہچانا ہی نہیں ( کہ میں نے ایسی کوئی روایت کی ہے ) میں لوٹ کر قتادہ کے پاس آیا اور انہیں یہ بات بتائی ( کہ وہ ایسا کہتے ہیں ) تو قتادہ نے کہا کہ وہ بھول گئے ( انہوں نے ایسی بات کہی ہے ) ۔ ابوعبدالرحمٰن نسائی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث منکر ہے۔

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: The wife of Rifa'ah came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'My husband divorced me and made it irrevocable. After that I married 'Abdur-Rahman bin Az-Zabir and what he has is like the fringe of a garment.' The Messenger of Allah smiled and said: 'Perhaps you want to go back to Rifa'ah? No, not until he tastes your sweetness and you taste his sweetness.'

It was narrated from 'Aishah that a man divorced his wife three times and she married another husband who divorced her, before having intercourse with her. The Messenger of Allah was asked: Is she permissible for the first (husband to remarry her)? He said: No, not until he tastes her sweetness as the first tasted her sweetness.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas that Al-Ghumaisa or Ar-Rumaisa' came to the Prophet complaining that her husband would not have intercourse with her. It was not long before her husband came and said: O Messenger of Allah, she is lying; he is having intercourse with her, but she wants to go back to her first husband. The Messenger of Allah said: She cannot do that until she tastes his sweetness.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet said, concerning a man who had a wife and he divorced her, then she married another man who divorced her before consummating the marriage with her, and (it was asked) whether she could go back to her first husband: No, not until she tastes his sweetness.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: The Prophet was asked about a man who divorced his wife three times, then another man married her and he closed the door and drew the curtain, then divorced her before consummating the marriage with her. He said: She is not permissible for the first one (to remarry her) until the second one has had intercourse with her.
