Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah said: A previously married woman has more right (to decide) about herself (with regard to marriage) than her guardian, and an orphan girl should be consulted with regard to marriage, and her permission is her silence.

أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرِّبَاطِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الْأَيِّمُ أَوْلَى بِأَمْرِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْيَتِيمَةُ تُسْتَأْمَرُ فِي نَفْسِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذْنُهَا صُمَاتُهَا .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”بیوہ عورت اپنے نفس کی خود مالک ہے۔ ( شادی کرے گی ) اور «یتیمہ» یعنی کنواری لڑکی سے ( اس کی شادی کے لیے ) اس کی منظوری لی جائے گی اور اس کی منظوری ( پوچھے جانے پر ) اس کی خاموشی ہے“۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: A previously married woman should not be married until her permission has been sought, and a virgin should not be married until her consent is sought. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how does she give her permission? He said: Her permission is if she keeps silent.

It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Prophet said: Seek the permission of women with regard to marriage. It was said: What if a virgin is too shy and remains silent? He said: That is her permission.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: A previously married woman should not be married until her consent has been sought, and a virgin should not be married until her permission has been sought. They said: O Messenger of Allah, what is her permission? He said: If she remains silent.
