It was narrated that: Ibn 'Abbas said concerning Sadaqatul-Fitr. A Sa' of wheat, or a Sa' of dates, or Sa of barley, or a Sa' of rye. (Sahih Mawquf)
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَخْلَدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ذَكَرَ فِي صَدَقَةِ الْفِطْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَاعًا مِنْ بُرٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ سُلْتٍ .
ابن سیرین کہتے ہیں کہ   ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے صدقہ فطر کا ذکر کیا۔ تو کہا: گیہوں سے ایک صاع، یا کھجور سے ایک صاع، یا جو سے ایک صاع، یا سلت ( جَو کی ایک قسم ہے ) سے ایک صاع ہے۔

We continued to do so until Mu'awiyah came from Ash-Sham and one of the things that he taught the people was when he said: I think that two Mudds of wheat from Ash-Sham are equivalent to a Sa' of this, So the people took to that.

So he said: Whoever is here of the people of Al-Madinah, get up and teach your brothers, for they do not know that the Messenger of Allah has enjoined Salaqatul Fitr upon young and old, free and slave, male and female; half a Sa' of wheat or a Sa' of dates or barely. Al_Hasan said: 'If Allah has given you more, then give more generously of wheat or something else. '
