It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri said: At the time of the Messenger of Allah we did not give anything except a Sa' of dates, or a Sa' of barley, or a Sa' of raisins, or a Sa' of flour, or a Sa' of cottage cheese, or a Sa' of rye. Then (one of the narrators) Sufyan was uncertain and said: Flour or rye.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عِيَاضَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُخْبِرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمْ نُخْرِجْ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ زَبِيبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ دَقِيقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ أَقِطٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ سُلْتٍ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ شَكَّ سُفْيَانُ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ دَقِيقٍ أَوْ سُلْتٍ.

ابو سعید خدری رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانہ میں صدقہ فطر کھجور سے، یا جو سے، یا کشمش سے، یا آٹا یا پنیر سے، یا بے چھلکے والی جو سے ایک صاع ہی نکالا ہے۔ سفیان کو شک ہوا تو انہوں نے «من دقیق أوسلت» شک کے ساتھ روایت کی ہے۔

It was narrated from Al-Hasan that Ibn 'Abbas delivered a Khutbah in Al-Basrah and said: Give Zakah of your fast. The people started looking at one another. So he said: Whoever is here of the people of Al-Madinah, get up and teach your brothers, for they do not know that the Messenger of Allah has enjoined Salaqatul Fitr upon young and old, free and slave, male and female; half a Sa' of wheat or a Sa' of dates or barely. Al_Hasan said: 'If Allah has given you more, then give more generously of wheat or something else. '
