Uthman bin Abi Al-As said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'It is a good fast to fast three days of each month .
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ مُطَرِّفًا حَدَّثَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ صِيَامٌ حَسَنٌ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ .
عثمان بن ابی العاص رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: ”ہر مہینے کے تین دن کے روزہ بہترین روزہ ہیں“۔
