It was narrated from Muadhah Al-Adawiyyah that a woman asked 'Aishah: Should a menstruating woman make up the prayers when she becomes pure? she said: Are youa Haruri? We used to menstruate at the time of the Messenger of Allah then we would become pure. He told us to make up the fast, but he did not tell us to make up the prayers.
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْهِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ الْعَدَوِيَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً سَأَلَتْ عَائِشَةَ أَتَقْضِي الْحَائِضُ الصَّلَاةَ إِذَا طَهُرَتْ ؟ قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ أَحَرُورِيَّةٌ أَنْتِ كُنَّا نَحِيضُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ نَطْهُرُ فَيَأْمُرُنَا بِقَضَاءِ الصَّوْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا يَأْمُرُنَا بِقَضَاءِ الصَّلَاةِ .
معاذہ عدویہ سے روایت ہے کہ   ایک عورت نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا: کیا عورت جب حیض سے پاک ہو جائے تو نماز کی قضاء کرے؟ انہوں نے کہا: کیا تو حروریہ ۱؎ ہے؟ ہم عورتیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانہ میں حیض سے ہوتی تھیں، پھر ہم پاک ہوتیں تو آپ ہمیں روزہ کی قضاء کا حکم دیتے تھے، اور نماز کی قضاء کے لیے نہیں کہتے تھے۔

Then he ate some of it, then he said: 'The likeness of a voluntary fast is that of a man who allocated some of his wealth to give in charity; if he wishes he may go ahead and give it, and if he wishes he may keep it. '

I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you were fasting, then you ate Hais.' He said: 'Yes, O 'Aishah. The one who observes a fast other than in Ramadan, or making up a missed Ramadan, fast, is like a man who allocated some of is wealth to give in charity; if he wishes he may go ahead and give it, and if he wishes he may keep it. '
