It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: Whoever spends the night of Ramadan in prayer (Qiyam) out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins. '
أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْمَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا جُوَيْرِيَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَحُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ .
ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس نے رمضان میں ایمان کے ساتھ ثواب کی نیت سے قیام اللیل کیا، یعنی نماز تراویح پڑھی اس کے پچھلے گناہ بخش دئیے جائیں گے“۔
