Translation

Safwan bin 'Assal said: When we were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on a journey, he told us not to take them off for three days except in the case of Janabah, but not in the case of defecation, urinating or sleep.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زِرٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ قال صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَسَّالٍ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا إِذَا كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَهُ ثَلَاثًا إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَكِنْ مِنْ غَائِطٍ وَبَوْلٍ وَنَوْمٍ .

صفوان بن عسال رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ کسی سفر میں ہوتے تو آپ حکم دیتے کہ ہم ( موزوں کو ) تین دن تک نہ اتاریں، إلاّ یہ کہ جنابت لاحق ہو جائے، ۱؎ لیکن پاخانہ، پیشاب اور نیند ( تو ان کی وجہ سے نہ اتاریں ) ۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When any one of you wakes from sleep, let him not put his hand into the vessel until he has washed it three times, because he does not know where his hand spent the night.

It was narrated that Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'If a man feels drowsy when he is praying, let him stop, lest he supplicate against himself without realizing.'

Urwah bin Az-Zubair said: I entered upon Mawan bin Al-Hakam and we mentioned the things for which Wudu' is done. Marwan said: 'Wudu' should be done after touching the penis.' 'Urwah said: 'I did not know that.' Marwan said: 'Busrah bint Safwan told me that she heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: And if any one of you touches his penis, let him do Wudu'.

Urwah bin Az-Zubair said: When he was the governor of Al-Madinah, Marwan mentioned that a man should perform Wudu' after touching his penis, if he touches it iwth his hand. I did not like that and I said: 'The one who touches it does not have to perform Wudu'.' Marwan said: 'Busrah bint Safwan told me that she heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mention the things for which Wudu' should be performed, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Wudu' should be performed after touching the penis.' 'Urwah said: 'I continued to argue with Marwan until he called one of his guards and sent him to Busrah to ask her about what Marwan had narrated, and Busrah sent word saying something like that which Marwan had narrated to me from her.

It was narrated that Talq bin 'Ali said: We went out as a delegation and when we arrived with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) he accepted our oath of allegiance and we prayed with him. When he had finished the prayer, a man who looked like a Bedouin came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about a man who touched his penis during the Salah?' He said: 'It is just a part of you,' or 'a piece of you.'
