It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: I went out to At-Tur and met Ka'b. He and I spent a day together, when I narrated things to him from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he narrated things to me from the Tawrah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On this day, Adam was created, on this day he was sent down, on it repentance was accepted, on this day he died, and on this day the Hour will begin. There is no living creature on Earth that does not listen out from Friday morning until the sun rises, fearing the onset of the Hour, except the son of Adam. On (Friday) there is an hour in which, if a believer prays and asks Allah (SWT) for something, He will give it to him. Ka'b said: Is than one day in every year? I said: No, it is every Friday.' Then Ka'b read in the Tawrah and said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) spoke the truth; it is every Friday. Then I went out and met Basrah bin Abi Basrah Al-Ghifari. He said: From where have you come? I said: From At-Tur. He said: If I had met you before you went there, you would not have gone. I said to him: Why? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Do not travel especially to visit a masjid except three: Al Masjid Al Haram (in Makkah), my masjid (in Al-Madinah) and the Masjid of Bait Al-Maqdis (in Jerusalem). Then I met 'Abdullah bin Salam and said: 'If you had only seen me, I went to At-Tur and met Ka'b, and he and I spent the day together, when I narrated things to him from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he narrated things to me from the Tawrah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. 'Abdullah bin Salam said: Ka'b is not telling the truth. I said: Then Ka'b read (in the Tawrah) and said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) spoke the truth; it is every Friday. 'Abdullah said: Ka'b spoke the truth; I know when that time is. I said: O my brother, tell me about it. He said: It is the last hour of Friday, before the sun sets. I said: Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: If a believer prays, but that is not a time for prayer. He said: Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Whoever prays and sits waiting for the (next) prayer, is in a state of prayer until the next prayer comes? I said: Of course. He said: That is what it is.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُضَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ أَتَيْتُ الطُّورَ فَوَجَدْتُ ثَمَّ كَعْبًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمَكَثْتُ أَنَا وَهُوَ يَوْمًا أُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَيُحَدِّثُنِي عَنِ التَّوْرَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ خَيْرُ يَوْمٍ طَلَعَتْ فِيهِ الشَّمْسُ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فِيهِ خُلِقَ آدَمُ وَفِيهِ أُهْبِطَ،‏‏‏‏ وَفِيهِ تِيبَ عَلَيْهِ،‏‏‏‏ وَفِيهِ قُبِضَ،‏‏‏‏ وَفِيهِ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنْ دَابَّةٍ إِلَّا وَهِيَ تُصْبِحُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ مُصِيخَةً حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ شَفَقًا مِنَ السَّاعَةِ إِلَّا ابْنَ آدَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِيهِ سَاعَةٌ لَا يُصَادِفُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ فِيهَا شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ:‏‏‏‏ ذَلِكَ يَوْمٌ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ،‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ بَلْ هِيَ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَرَأَ كَعْبٌ التَّوْرَاةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَدَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ.

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں طور پہاڑی پر آیا تو وہاں مجھے کعب ( کعب احبار ) رضی اللہ عنہ ملے تو میں اور وہ دونوں ایک دن تک ساتھ رہے، میں ان سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حدیثیں بیان کرتا تھا، اور وہ مجھ سے تورات کی باتیں بیان کرتے تھے، میں نے ان سے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: بہترین دن جس میں سورج نکلا جمعہ کا دن ہے، اسی میں آدم پیدا کئے گئے، اسی میں ( دنیا میں ) اتارے گئے، اسی میں ان کی توبہ قبول کی گئی، اسی میں ان کی روح نکالی گئی، اور اسی دن قیامت قائم ہو گی، زمین پر رہنے والی کوئی مخلوق ایسی نہیں ہے جو جمعہ کے دن قیامت کے ڈر سے صبح کو سورج نکلنے تک کان نہ لگائے رہے، سوائے ابن آدم کے، اور اس دن میں ایک گھڑی ایسی ہے کہ کسی مومن کو یہ گھڑی مل جائے اور نماز کی حالت میں ہو اور وہ اللہ سے اس ساعت میں کچھ مانگے تو وہ اسے ضرور دے گا ، کعب نے کہا: یہ ہر سال میں ایک دن ہے، میں نے کہا: نہیں، بلکہ یہ گھڑی ہر جمعہ میں ہوتی ہے، تو کعب نے تورات پڑھ کر دیکھا تو کہنے لگے: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سچ فرمایا ہے، یہ ہر جمعہ میں ہے۔ پھر میں ( وہاں سے ) نکلا، تو میری ملاقات بصرہ بن ابی بصرہ غفاری رضی اللہ عنہ سے ہوئی، تو انہوں نے پوچھا: آپ کہاں سے آ رہے ہیں؟ میں نے کہا: طور سے، انہوں نے کہا: کاش کہ میں آپ سے وہاں جانے سے پہلے ملا ہوتا، تو آپ وہاں نہ جاتے، میں نے ان سے کہا: کیوں؟ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سنا، آپ فرما رہے تھے: سواریاں استعمال نہ کی جائیں یعنی سفر نہ کیا جائے مگر تین مسجدوں کی طرف: ایک مسجد الحرام کی طرف، دوسری میری مسجد یعنی مسجد نبوی کی طرف، اور تیسری مسجد بیت المقدس ۱؎ کی طرف۔ پھر میں عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ عنہ سے ملا تو میں نے کہا: کاش آپ نے مجھے دیکھا ہوتا، میں طور گیا تو میری ملاقات کعب سے ہوئی، پھر میں اور وہ دونوں پورے دن ساتھ رہے، میں ان سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حدیثیں بیان کرتا تھا، اور وہ مجھ سے تورات کی باتیں بیان کرتے تھے، میں نے ان سے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: دنوں میں بہترین دن جمعہ کا دن ہے جس میں سورج نکلا، اسی میں آدم پیدا کئے گئے، اسی میں دنیا میں اتارے گئے، اسی میں ان کی توبہ قبول ہوئی، اسی میں ان کی روح نکالی گئی، اور اسی میں قیامت قائم ہو گی، زمین پر کوئی ایسی مخلوق نہیں ہے جو قیامت کے ڈر سے جمعہ کے دن صبح سے سورج نکلنے تک کان نہ لگائے رہے سوائے ابن آدم کے، اور اس دن میں ایک گھڑی ایسی ہے کہ جس مسلمان کو وہ گھڑی نماز کی حالت میں مل جائے، اور وہ اللہ سے کچھ مانگے تو اللہ تعالیٰ اس کو وہ چیز ضرور دے گا، اس پر کعب نے کہا: ایسا دن ہر سال میں ایک ہے، تو عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: کعب نے غلط کہا، میں نے کہا: پھر کعب نے ( تورات ) پڑھی اور کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سچ فرمایا ہے، وہ ہر جمعہ میں ہے، تو عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: کعب نے سچ کہا، پھر انہوں نے کہا: میں اس گھڑی کو جانتا ہوں، تو میں نے کہا: اے بھائی! مجھے وہ گھڑی بتا دیں، انہوں نے کہا: وہ گھڑی جمعہ کے دن سورج ڈوبنے سے پہلے کی آخری گھڑی ہے، تو میں نے کہا: کیا آپ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے یہ نہیں سنا کہ آپ نے فرمایا: جو مومن اس گھڑی کو پائے اور وہ نماز میں ہو جبکہ اس گھڑی میں کوئی نماز نہیں ہے، تو انہوں نے کہا: کیا آپ نے نہیں سنا ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: جو شخص نماز پڑھے پھر بیٹھ کر دوسری نماز کا انتظار کرتا رہے، تو وہ نماز ہی میں ہوتا ہے ، میں نے کہا: کیوں نہیں سنا ہے؟ اس پر انہوں نے کہا: تو وہ اسی طرح ہے۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: On Friday, there is an hour when, if a Muslim slave asks Allah (SWT) for something at that time, He will give it to him.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: Abu Al-Qasim (ﷺ) said: 'On Friday, there is an hour when, if a Muslim slave stands in prayer and asks Allah (SWT) for something at that time, He will give it to him.' He was reducing it: lessening it.

It was narrated that Ya'la bin Umayyah said: I said to 'Umar bin Al-Khattab: 'There is no sin on you if you shorten salah and if you fear that the disbelievers may put you in trial (attack you). But now the people are safe.' 'Umar said: 'I wondered the same thing, so I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about that and he said: This is a favor from Allah (SWT) to you, so accept His favor.

It was narrated from Umayyah bin 'Abdullah bin Khalid that: He said to 'Abdullah bin 'Umar: We find (mention of) prayer when one is at home (i.e., not traveling) and prayer at times of fear in the Qur'an, but we do not find any mention in the Qur'an of prayer when traveling. Ibn Umar said to him: 'O son of my brother, Allah (SWT) send Muhammad (ﷺ) to us when we did not know anything, and all we should do is to do that which we saw Muhammad (ﷺ) doing.'
