Narrated Abu Hurairah: Abu Bakr as-Siddiq said: Messenger of Allah! command me something to say in the morning and in the evening. He said: Say O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who knowest the unseen and the seen, Lord and Possessor of everything. I testify that there is no god but Thee; I seek refuge in Thee from the evil within myself, from the evil of the devil, and his (incitement to) attributing partners (to Allah). He said: Say this in the morning.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مُرْنِي بِكَلِمَاتٍ أَقُولُهُنَّ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُ،‏‏‏‏ قال:‏‏‏‏ قُلْ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَشَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْهَا:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! مجھے کچھ ایسے کلمات بتائیے جنہیں میں جب صبح کروں اور جب شام کروں تو کہہ لیا کروں، آپ نے فرمایا: کہو «اللهم فاطر السموات والأرض عالم الغيب والشهادة رب كل شىء ومليكه أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت أعوذ بك من شر نفسي وشر الشيطان وشركه» اے اللہ! آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا کرنے والے، پوشیدہ اور موجود ہر چیز کے جاننے والے، ہر چیز کے پالنہار اور مالک! میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ تیرے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ہے، میں تیری ذات کے ذریعہ اپنے نفس کے شر سے، شیطان کے شر سے، اور اس کے شرک سے پناہ مانگتا ہوں آپ نے فرمایا: جب صبح کرو اور جب شام کرو اور جب سونے چلو تب اس دعا کو پڑھ لیا کرو ۔

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to say in the morning: O Allah, by Thee we come to the morning, by Thee we come to the evening, by Thee are we resurrected. In the evening he would say: O Allah, by Thee we come to the evening, by Thee we die, and to Thee are we resurrected.

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone says in the morning or in the evening: O Allah! in the morning we call Thee, the bearers of Thy Throne, Thy angels and all Thy creatures to witness that thou art Allah (God) than Whom alone there is no god, and that Muhammad is Thy Servant and Messenger, Allah will emancipate his fourth from Hell; if anyone says twice, Allah will emancipate his half; if anyone says it thrice, Allah will emancipate three-fourth; and if he says four times, Allah will emancipate him from Hell.

Narrated Buraydah ibn al-Hasib: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone says in the morning or in the evening: O Allah! Thou art my Lord; there is no god but Thee, Thou hast created me, and I am Thy servant and hold to Thy covenant and promise as much as I can; I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what I have done: I acknowledge Thy favour to me, and I acknowledge my sin; pardon me, for none but Thee pardons sins, and dies during the daytime or during the night. he will go to Paradise.

Abdullah (bin Masud) told that when the evening came, the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would say: we have come to the evening, and in the evening the dominion belongs to Allah: “Praise be to Allah; there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner”. The version of Jarir adds: Zubaid said that Ibrahim bin Suwaid said: There is no god but Allah alone who has no partner; to him belongs the dominion, to him praise is due, and He is omnipotent. O Allah! I ask thee for the good of what this night contains, and the good of what comes after it; and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what this night contains, and from the evil of what comes after it. My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from indolence, the evil of old age or of disbelief. My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from a punishment in Hell and a punishment in the grave. In the morning he said that also: we have come to the morning, and in the morning the dominion belongs to Allah. Abu Dawud said: Shubah transmitted from Salamah bin Kuhail, from Ibrahim bin Suwaid, saying: from the evil of old age. He did not mention the evil of disbelief.

Narrated A man: Abu Sallam told that he was in the mosque of Hims. A man passed him and the people said about him that he served the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He (Abu Sallam) went to him and said: Tell me any tradition which you heard from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and there were no man between him and you. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: If anyone says in the morning and in the evening: I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, with Muhammad as Prophet, Allah will certainly please him.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Ghannam: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: If anyone says in the morning: O Allah! whatever favour has come to me, it comes from Thee alone Who has no partner; to Thee praise is due and thanksgiving, '! he will have expressed full thanksgiving for the day; and if anyone says the same in the evening, he will have expressed full thanksgiving for the night.
