Narrated Abud Darda: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Shall I not inform you of something more excellent in degree than fasting, prayer and almsgiving (sadaqah)? The people replied: Yes, Prophet of Allah! He said: It is putting things right between people, spoiling them is the shaver (destructive).
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَالِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَفْضَلَ مِنْ دَرَجَةِ الصِّيَامِ وَالصَّلَاةِ وَالصَّدَقَةِ ؟،‏‏‏‏ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِصْلَاحُ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ وَفَسَادُ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ الْحَالِقَةُ .
ابو الدرداء رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کیا میں تمہیں وہ بات نہ بتاؤں جو درجے میں روزے، نماز اور زکاۃ سے بڑھ کر ہے؟ لوگوں نے کہا: کیوں نہیں، آپ نے فرمایا: آپس میں میل جول کرا دینا، اور آپس کی لڑائی اور پھوٹ تو سر مونڈنے والی ہے ۔

Umm Kulthum, daughter of Uqbah, said: I did not hear the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم giving licence for anything people say falsely except in three matters. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would say: I do not count liar a man who puts things right between people, saying a word by which he intends only putting things right, and a man who says something in war, and a man who says something to his wife says something to his husband.

I said: No. He said: He then took his fingers out of his ears and said: I was with the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, and he heard like this and he did like this.
