Abu Usaid al-Ansari reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: when any of you enters the mosque he should invoke blessing on the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and then he should say: O Allah, open to me the gates of thy mercy. And when he goes out, he should say: O Allah, I ask thee out of Thine abundance.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَقِيتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ مُسْلِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ حَدَّثْتَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَبِوَجْهِهِ الْكَرِيمِ وَسُلْطَانِهِ الْقَدِيمِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَقَطُّ ؟ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَإِذَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ:‏‏‏‏ حُفِظَ مِنِّي سَائِرَ الْيَوْمِ.
حیوہ بن شریح کہتے ہیں کہ   میں عقبہ بن مسلم سے ملا تو میں نے ان سے کہا: مجھے یہ خبر پہنچی ہے کہ آپ نے عبداللہ بن عمرو بن العاص رضی اللہ عنہما سے اور انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب مسجد میں تشریف لے جاتے تو فرماتے: «أعوذ بالله العظيم وبوجهه الكريم وسلطانه القديم من الشيطان الرجيم» ( میں اللہ عظیم کی، اس کی ذات کریم کی اور اس کی قدیم بادشاہت کی مردود شیطان سے پناہ چاہتا ہوں ) تو عقبہ نے کہا: کیا بس اتنا ہی؟ میں نے کہا: ہاں، انہوں نے کہا: جب مسجد میں داخل ہونے والا آدمی یہ کہتا ہے تو شیطان کہتا ہے: اب وہ میرے شر سے دن بھر کے لیے محفوظ کر لیا گیا۔

Haiwah bin Shuraih reported: I met Uqbah bin Muslim and said to him: it has been reported to me that someone has narrated to you from the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم that when he entered the mosque, he would say: I seek refuge in Allah, the Magnificent, and in His noble face, and in his eternal domain, from the accursed Devil. He asked: is it so much only? I said: Yes. He said: when anyone says so. The devil says: he is protected from me all the day long.
