Narrated Abu Hurairah: A man who was beautiful came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He said: Messenger of Allah, I am a man who likes beauty, and I have been given some of it, as you see. And I do not like that anyone excels me (in respect of beauty). Perhaps he said: even to the extent of thong of my sandal (shirak na'li) , or he he said: to the extent of strap of my sandal (shis'i na'li) . Is it pride? He replied: No, pride is disdaining what is true and despising people.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا جَمِيلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنِّي رَجُلٌ حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ الْجَمَالُ وَأُعْطِيتُ مِنْهُ مَا تَرَى حَتَّى مَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَفُوقَنِي أَحَدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِمَّا قَالَ بِشِرَاكِ نَعْلِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِمَّا قَالَ بِشِسْعِ نَعْلِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَفَمِنَ الْكِبْرِ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا وَلَكِنَّ الْكِبْرَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ بَطِرَ الْحَقَّ وَغَمَطَ النَّاسَ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، وہ ایک خوبصورت آدمی تھا اس نے آ کر عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! مجھے خوبصورتی پسند ہے، اور مجھے خوبصورتی دی بھی گئی ہے جسے آپ دیکھ رہے ہیں یہاں تک کہ میں نہیں چاہتا کہ خوبصورتی اور زیب و زینت میں مجھ سے کوئی میری جوتی کے تسمہ کے برابر بھی بڑھنے پائے، کیا یہ کبر ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں بلکہ کبر یہ ہے کہ حق بات کی تغلیط کرے، اور لوگوں کو کمتر سمجھے ۔

Narrated Abdur Rahman: I asked Abu Saeed al-Khudri about wearing lower garment. He said: You have come to the man who knows it very well. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The way for a believer to wear a lower garment is to have it halfway down his legs and he is guilty of no sin if it comes halfway between that and the ankles, but what comes lower than the ankles is in Hell. On the day of Resurrection. Allah will not look at him who trails his lower garment conceitedly.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Hanging down is in lower garment, shirt and turban. If anyone trails any of them conceitedly, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.
