Translation

Ikrimah said that he saw Ibn Abbas putting on lower garment, letting the hem on the top of his foot and raising it behind. He said: Why do you put on the lower garment in this way? He replied: It is how I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم do it.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ أَنَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏رَأَى ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَأْتَزِرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَضَعُ حَاشِيَةَ إِزَارِهِ مِنْ مُقَدَّمِهِ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَدَمَيْهِ وَيَرْفَعُ مِنْ مُؤَخَّرِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ لِمَ تَأْتَزِرُ هَذِهِ الْإِزْرَةَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتَزِرُهَا .

عکرمہ کا بیان ہے کہ انہوں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کو دیکھا کہ وہ تہ بند باندھتے ہیں تو اپنے تہ بند کے آگے کے کنارے کو اپنے دونوں قدموں کی پشت پر رکھتے ہیں اور اس کے پیچھے کے حصہ کو اونچا رکھتے ہیں، میں نے ان سے پوچھا: آپ تہ بند ایسا کیوں باندھتے ہیں؟ تو وہ بولے: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو ایسے ہی باندھتے دیکھا ہے۔
