Narrated Asma: Abdullah Abu Umar, client of Asma, daughter of Abu Bakr, said: I saw Ibn Umar buying a Syrian garment in the market. When he saw that it had red warp, he returned it. I then came to Asma and mentioned it to her. She said: Bring me, slave-girl, the mantle of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. She brought out a mantle of a course ornamented cloth, with its collar, sleeves, front, and back were hemmed with brocade.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَبُو عُمَرَ مَوْلَى أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فِي السُّوقِ اشْتَرَى ثَوْبًا شَأْمِيًّا فَرَأَى فِيهِ خَيْطًا أَحْمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَدَّهُ فَأَتَيْتُ أَسْمَاءَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ يَا جَارِيَةُ نَاوِلِينِي جُبَّةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخْرَجَتْ جُبَّةَ طَيَالِسَةَ مَكْفُوفَةَ الْجَيْبِ وَالْكُمَّيْنِ وَالْفَرْجَيْنِ بِالدِّيبَاجِ .

عبداللہ ابوعمر مولی اسماء بنت ابی بکر کا بیان ہے میں نے ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کو بازار میں ایک شامی کپڑا خریدتے دیکھا انہوں نے اس میں ایک سرخ دھاگہ دیکھا تو اسے واپس کر دیا تو میں اسماء رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس آیا اور ان سے اس کا ذکر کیا تو وہ ( اپنی خادمہ سے ) بولیں بیٹی! رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا جبہ مجھے لا دے، تو وہ نکال کر لائیں وہ ایک طیالسی ۱؎ جبہ تھا جس کے گریبان اور دونوں آستینوں اور آگے اور پیچھے ریشم ٹکا ہوا تھا۔

Ibn Abbas said: It is only a garment wholly made of silk which the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade, but there is no harm in the ornamented border and the wrap.

Narrated Anas: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم gave license to Abdur-Rahman bin Awf and al-Zubair bin al-'Awwam to wear silk shirts during a journey because of an itch which they had.

Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: The Prophet of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم took silk and held it in his right hand, and took gold and held it in his left hand and said: both of these are prohibited to the males of my community.

Anas bin Malik said that he saw a striped garment over Umm Kulthum, daughter of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He said: The word siyara means striped with silk.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: We used to take it away (i. e. silk) from boys, and leave it for girls. Misar said: I asked Amr ibn Dinar about it, but he did not know it.

Narrated Qatadah: We asked Anas bin Malik: Which cloth was dearer to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ? or Which cloth did the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم like best to wear ? He replied: The striped cloaks (hibrah).
