Ibn Abbas said: It is only a garment wholly made of silk which the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade, but there is no harm in the ornamented border and the wrap.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُفَيْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا خُصَيْفٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الثَّوْبِ الْمُصْمَتِ مِنَ الْحَرِيرِ فَأَمَّا الْعَلَمُ مِنَ الْحَرِيرِ وَسَدَى الثَّوْبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایسے کپڑے سے جو خالص ریشمی ہو منع فرمایا ہے، رہا ریشمی بوٹا اور ریشمی کپڑے کا تانا تو کوئی مضائقہ نہیں۔

Narrated Anas: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم gave license to Abdur-Rahman bin Awf and al-Zubair bin al-'Awwam to wear silk shirts during a journey because of an itch which they had.

Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: The Prophet of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم took silk and held it in his right hand, and took gold and held it in his left hand and said: both of these are prohibited to the males of my community.

Anas bin Malik said that he saw a striped garment over Umm Kulthum, daughter of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He said: The word siyara means striped with silk.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: We used to take it away (i. e. silk) from boys, and leave it for girls. Misar said: I asked Amr ibn Dinar about it, but he did not know it.

Narrated Qatadah: We asked Anas bin Malik: Which cloth was dearer to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ? or Which cloth did the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم like best to wear ? He replied: The striped cloaks (hibrah).

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Wear your white garments, for they are among your best garments, and shroud your dead in them. Among the best types of collyrium you use is antimony (ithmid) for it clears the vision and makes the hair sprout.
