The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Muadh through a different chain of narrators. حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ السَّمْطِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ أَوْ مُرَّةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ:‏‏‏‏ حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَى مُعَاذٍ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ:‏‏‏‏ وَأَيُّمَا امْرِئٍ أَعْتَقَ مُسْلِمًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ أَعْتَقَتِ امْرَأَةً مُسْلِمَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏زَادَ وَأَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ أَعْتَقَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ مُسْلِمَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا كَانَتَا فِكَاكَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يُجْزِئُ مَكَانَ كُلِّ عَظْمَيْنِ مِنْهُمَا عَظْمٌ مِنْ عِظَامِهِ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ سَالِمٌ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَاتَ شُرَحْبِيلُ بِصِفِّينَ.

شرحبیل بن سمط کہتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے کعب بن مرہ یا مرہ بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا کہ مجھ سے کوئی ایسی حدیث بیان کیجئے جسے آپ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنی ہو، پھر راوی نے آپ کے فرمان: «وأيما امرئ أعتق مسلما وأيما امرأة أعتقت امرأة مسلمة» تک معاذ جیسی روایت بیان کی، اور یہ اضافہ کیا: جو مرد کسی دو مسلمان عورت کو آزاد کرے تو وہ دونوں اسے جہنم سے چھڑا دیں گی، ان دونوں کی دو ہڈیاں اس کی ایک ایک ہڈی کے قائم مقام ہوں گی ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: سالم نے شرحبیل سے نہیں سنا ہے ( اس لیے یہ حدیث منقطع ہے ) شرحبیل کی وفات صفین میں ہوئی ہے۔
