Narrated Abu Hurairah: I knew that the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to keep fast. I waited for the day when he did not fast to present him the drink (nabidh) which I made in a pumpkin. I then brought it to him while it fermented. He said: Throw it to this wall, for this is a drink of the one who does not believe in Allah and the Last Day.

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَصُومُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَتَحَيَّنْتُ فِطْرَهُ بِنَبِيذٍ صَنَعْتُهُ فِي دُبَّاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ بِهِ فَإِذَا هُوَ يَنِشُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اضْرِبْ بِهَذَا الْحَائِطِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ هَذَا شَرَابُ مَنْ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں مجھے معلوم تھا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روزے رکھا کرتے ہیں تو میں اس نبیذ کے لیے جو میں نے ایک تمبی میں بنائی تھی آپ کے روزہ نہ رکھنے کا انتظار کرتا رہا پھر میں اسے لے کر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا وہ جوش مار رہی تھی، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اسے اس دیوار پر مار دو یہ تو اس شخص کا مشروب ہے جو اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایمان نہیں رکھتا ۔

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade that a man should drink while standing.

Nazzal bin Samurah said: Ali asked for water and he drank it while standing. He then said: some people disapprove of doing this (drinking while standing ), but I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم doing as I have done.

Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade drinking from the mouth of a water-skin, and riding the animal which feeds on filth and eating the animal which is killed in confinement. Abu Dawud said: Jallalah means an animal which eats filth and impurities.

A man of the Ansar quoting from his father said that the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم called for a skin-vessel on the day of the battle of Uhud. He then said: Invert the head of the vessel and he drank from its mouth.
