Narrated Ruwayfi ibn Thabit: Shayban al-Qatbani reported that Maslamah ibn Mukhallad made Ruwayfi ibn Thabit the governor of the lower parts (of Egypt). He added: We travelled with him from Kum Sharik to Alqamah or from Alqamah to Kum Sharik (the narrator doubts) for Alqam. Ruwayfi said: Any one of us would borrow a camel during the lifetime of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم from the other, on condition that he would give him half the booty, and the other half he would retain himself. Further, one of us received an arrowhead and a feather, and the other an arrow-shaft as a share from the booty. He then reported: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: You may live for a long time after I am gone, Ruwayfi, so, tell people that if anyone ties his beard or wears round his neck a string to ward off the evil eye, or cleanses himself with animal dung or bone, Muhammad has nothing to do with him.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ فَضَالَةَ الْمِصْرِيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَيَّاشِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ الْقِتْبَانِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ شِيَيْمَ بْنَ بَيْتَانَ أَخْبَرَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شَيْبَانَ الْقِتْبَانِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنَ مُخَلَّدٍ اسْتَعْمَلَ رُوَيْفِعَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ عَلَى أَسْفَلِ الْأَرْضِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ شَيْبَانُ:‏‏‏‏ فَسِرْنَا مَعَهُ مِنْ كَوْمِ شَرِيكٍ إِلَى عَلْقَمَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ مِنْ عَلْقَمَاءَ إِلَى كُومِ شَرِيكٍ يُرِيدُ عَلْقَامَ. فَقَالَ رُوَيْفِعٌ:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُنَا فِي زَمَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَيَأْخُذُ نِضْوَ أَخِيهِ عَلَى أَنَّ لَهُ النِّصْفَ مِمَّا يَغْنَمُ وَلَنَا النِّصْفُ. وَإِنْ كَانَ أَحَدُنَا لَيَطِيرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَهُ النَّصْلُ وَالرِّيشُ وَلِلْآخَرِ الْقِدْحُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رُوَيْفِعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَعَلَّ الْحَيَاةَ سَتَطُولُ بِكَ بَعْدِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخْبِرِ النَّاسَ أَنَّهُ مَنْ عَقَدَ لِحْيَتَهُ أَوْ تَقَلَّدَ وَتَرًا أَوِ اسْتَنْجَى بِرَجِعِ دَابَّةٍ أَوْ عَظْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهُ بَرِيءٌ .

شیبان قتبانی کہتے ہیں کہ مسلمہ بن مخلد نے ( جو امیر المؤمنین معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی جانب سے بلاد مصر کے گورنر تھے ) رویفع بن ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ کو ( مصر کے ) نشیبی علاقے کا عامل مقرر کیا، شیبان کہتے ہیں: تو ہم ان کے ساتھ کوم شریک ۱؎ سے علقماء ۱؎ کے لیے یا علقما ء سے کوم شریک کے لیے روانہ ہوئے، علقماء سے ان کی مراد علقام ہی ہے، رویفع بن ثابت نے ( راستے میں مجھ سے ) کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانے میں ہم میں سے کوئی شخص اپنے بھائی کا اونٹ اس شرط پر لیتا کہ اس سے جو فائدہ حاصل ہو گا اس کا نصف ( آدھا ) تجھے دوں گا اور نصف ( آدھا ) میں لوں گا، تو ہم میں سے ایک کے حصہ میں پیکان اور پر ہوتا تو دوسرے کے حصہ میں تیر کی لکڑی۔ پھر رویفع نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا: رویفع! شاید کہ میرے بعد تمہاری زندگی لمبی ہو تو تم لوگوں کو خبر کر دینا کہ جس شخص نے اپنی داڑھی میں گرہ لگائی ۲؎ یا جانور کے گلے میں تانت کا حلقہ ڈالا یا جانور کے گوبر، لید یا ہڈی سے استنجاء کیا محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس سے بری ہیں ۔

This tradition has also been narrated by Abu Salim al-JAishahni on the authority of Abd Allaah bin Amr. He narrated this tradition at the time when he besieged the fort at the gate of Alyun. Abu Dawud said: The fort of Alyun lies at the mountain in Fustat. Abu Dawud said: The kunyah (surname) of Shaiban bin Umayyah is Abu Hudhaifah.

Narrated Jabir bin Abd Allaah: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade us to use a bone or dung for wiping.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: A deputation of the jinn came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: O Muhammad, forbid your community to cleans themselves with a bone or dung or charcoal, for in them Allah has provided sustenance for us. So the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade them to do so.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When any of you goes to relieve himself, he should take with him three stones to cleans himself, for they will be enough for him.

Narrated Khuzaymah ibn Thabit: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was asked about cleansing (after relieving oneself). He said: (One should cleanse oneself) with three stones which should be free from dung. Abu Dawud said: A similar tradition has been narrated by Abu Usamah and Ibn Numair from Hisham.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم urinated and Umar was standing behind him with a jug of water. He said: What is this, Umar? He replied: Water for you to perform ablution with. He said: I have not been commanded to perform ablution every time I urinate. If I were to do so, it would become a sunnah
