Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: A deputation of the jinn came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: O Muhammad, forbid your community to cleans themselves with a bone or dung or charcoal, for in them Allah has provided sustenance for us. So the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade them to do so.
حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو السَّيْبَانِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الدَّيْلَمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَدِمَ وَفْدُ الْجِنِّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ يَا مُحَمَّدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏انْهَ أُمَّتَكَ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجُوا بِعَظْمٍ أَوْ رَوْثَةٍ أَوْ حُمَمَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى جَعَلَ لَنَا فِيهَا رِزْقًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ .
عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   جنوں کا ایک وفد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور اس نے عرض کیا: آپ اپنی امت کو ہڈی، لید ( گوبر، مینگنی ) ، اور کوئلے سے استنجاء کرنے سے منع فرما دیجئیے کیونکہ ان میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہمارے لیے روزی بنائی ہے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے منع فرما دیا ۱؎۔

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When any of you goes to relieve himself, he should take with him three stones to cleans himself, for they will be enough for him.

Narrated Khuzaymah ibn Thabit: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was asked about cleansing (after relieving oneself). He said: (One should cleanse oneself) with three stones which should be free from dung. Abu Dawud said: A similar tradition has been narrated by Abu Usamah and Ibn Numair from Hisham.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The following verse was revealed in connection with the people of Quba': In it are men who love to be purified (ix. 108). He (Abu Hurairah) said: They used to cleanse themselves with water after easing. So the verse was revealed in connection with them.
