Narrated Muawiyah al-Qushayri: I went to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them.

أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَزِينٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْدَاوُدَ الْوَرَّاقِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْقُشَيْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا تَقُولُ فِي نِسَائِنَا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَطْعِمُوهُنَّ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاكْسُوهُنَّ مِمَّا تَكْتَسُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا تَضْرِبُوهُنَّ وَلَا تُقَبِّحُوهُنَّ .

معاویہ قشیری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں آیا اور عرض کیا: ہماری عورتوں کے بارے میں آپ کا کیا حکم ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جو تم خود کھاتے ہو وہی ان کو بھی کھلاؤ، اور جیسا تم پہنتے ہو ویسا ہی ان کو بھی پہناؤ، اور نہ انہیں مارو، اور نہ برا کہو ۔

Abu Harrah Al Ruqashi reported on the authority of his uncle” The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said “If you fear the recalcitrance abandon them in their beds. ” The narrator Hammad said “By abandonment he meant abandonment of intercourse. ”

Iyas ibn Abdullah ibn Abu Dhubab reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Do not beat Allah's handmaidens, but when Umar came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he (the Prophet) gave permission to beat them. Then many women came round the family of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم complaining against their husbands. So the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Many women have gone round Muhammad's family complaining against their husbands. They are not the best among you.

Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife.

Narrated Buraydah ibn al-Hasib: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: to Ali: Do not give a second look, Ali, (because) while you are not to blame for the first, you have no right to the second.
