Narrated Ali ibn Abu Talib: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Its (Madina's) fresh grass is not to be cut, its game is not to be driven away, and things dropped in it are to be picked up by one who publicly announces it, and it is not permissible for any man to carry weapons in it for fighting, and it is not advisable that its trees are cut except what a man cuts for the fodder of his camel.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فِي هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يُخْتَلَى خَلَاهَا وَلَا يُنَفَّرُ صَيْدُهَا وَلَا تُلْتَقَطُ لُقَطَتُهَا إِلَّا لِمَنْ أَشَادَ بِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا يَصْلُحُ لِرَجُلٍ أَنْ يَحْمِلَ فِيهَا السِّلَاحَ لِقِتَالٍ وَلَا يَصْلُحُ أَنْ يُقْطَعَ مِنْهَا شَجَرَةٌ إِلَّا أَنْ يَعْلِفَ رَجُلٌ بَعِيرَهُ .
علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے اس قصے میں روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اس ( یعنی مدینہ ) کی نہ گھاس کاٹی جائے، نہ اس کا شکار بھگایا جائے، اور نہ وہاں کی گری پڑی چیزوں کو اٹھایا جائے، سوائے اس شخص کے جو اس کی پہچان کرائے، کسی شخص کے لیے درست نہیں کہ وہ وہاں لڑائی کے لیے ہتھیار لے جائے، اور نہ یہ درست ہے کہ وہاں کا کوئی درخت کاٹا جائے سوائے اس کے کہ کوئی آدمی اپنے اونٹ کو چارہ کھلائے ۔

Adi bin Zaid said “The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم declared Madeenah a protected land a mail-post (three miles) from each side. Its trees are not to be beaten off or to be cut except what is taken from the Camel.

Narrated Sulayman ibn Abu Abdullah: Sulayman ibn Abu Abdullah said: I saw Saad ibn Abu Waqqas seized a man hunting in the sacred territory of Madina which the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم had declared to be sacred. He took away his clothes from him. His patrons came to him and spoke to him about it, but he replied: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم declared this territory to be sacred, saying: If anyone catches someone hunting in it he should take away from him his clothes. So I shall not return to you a provision which the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم has given me, but if you wish I shall pay you its price.

A client of Saad said “Saad found some slaves from the slaves of Madina cutting the trees of Madina. ” So, he took away their property and said to their patrons “I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم prohibiting to cut any tree of Madina”. He said “If anyone cuts any one of them, what is taken from him will belong to the one who seizes him. ”
