Narrated Sarra daughter of Nabhan: She was mistress of a temple in pre-Islamic days. She said: The prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم addressed us on the second day of sacrifice (yawm ar-ru'us) and said: Which is this day? We said: Allah and His Messenger are better aware. He said: Is this not the middle of the tashriq days?

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَتْنِي جَدَّتِي سَرَّاءُ بِنْتُ نَبْهَانَ وَكَانَتْ رَبَّةُ بَيْتٍ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الرُّءُوسِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّ يَوْمٍ هَذَا ؟ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَيْسَ أَوْسَطَ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ ؟ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَكَذَلِكَ قَالَ عَمُّ أَبِي حُرَّةَ الرَّقَاشِيِّ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ خَطَبَ أَوْسَطَ أَيَّامِ التَّشْرِيقِ .

ربیعہ بن عبدالرحمٰن بن حصین کہتے ہیں مجھ سے میری دادی سراء بنت نبہان رضی اللہ عنہا نے بیان کیا اور وہ جاہلیت میں گھر کی مالکہ تھیں ( جس میں اصنام ہوتے تھے ) ، وہ کہتی ہیں: ہمیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یوم الروس ۱؎ ( ایام تشریق کے دوسرے دن بارہویں ذی الحجہ ) کو خطاب کیا اور پوچھا: یہ کون سا دن ہے؟ ، ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول زیادہ جانتے ہیں، آپ نے فرمایا: کیا یہ ایام تشریق کا بیچ والا دن نہیں ہے ۔ امام ابوداؤد رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں: ابوحرہ رقاشی کے چچا سے بھی اسی طرح روایت ہے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایام تشریق کے بیچ والے دن خطبہ دیا۔

Narrated Rafi ibn Amr al-Muzani: I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم addressing the people at Mina (on the day of sacrifice) when the sun rose high (i. e. in the forenoon) on a white mule, and Ali (Allah be pleased with him) was interpreting on his behalf; some people were standing and some sitting.

Narrated Abdur Rahman ibn Muadh at-Taymi: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم addressed us when we were at Mina. Our ears were open and we were listening to what he was saying, while we were in our dwellings. He began to teach them the rites of hajj till he reached the injunction of throwing pebbles at the Jamrahs (pillars at Mina). He put his forefingers in his ears and said: (Throw small pebbles. He then commanded the Emigrants (Muhajirun) to station themselves. They stationed themselves before the mosque. He then commanded the Helpers (Ansar) to encamp. They encamped behind the mosque. Thereafter the people encamped.

Ibn Jurayj asked Ibn Umar: We sell the property of the people; so one of us goes to Makkah and passes the night there with the property (during the stay at Mina). He said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to pass night and day at Mina.

Narrated Ibn Umar: Al-Abbas sought permission from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم to pass the night at Makkah during the period of his stay at Mina for distributing water among the people. He gave him permission.
