Anas said When the verse “You will never attain righteousness until you give freely of what you love came down, Abu Talhah said Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, I think our Lord asks us for our property. I call you as witness that I dedicate my land at Ariha ‘to Him’. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said to him Divide it among your nearest relatives. So he divided it among Hassan bin Thabit and Ubayy bin Kaab. Abu Dawud said I have been gold by an Ansari Muhammad bin Abdallah that the name of Abu Talhah is Zaid bin Sahal bin al-Aswad bin Haram bin ‘Amar bin Zaid bin Manat bin Adi bin Amr bin Malik bin al-Najjar; and Hassan bin Tabit is son of al-Mundhir in al-Haram. Thus both of them (Abu Talhah and Hassan) have their common link in Haram who is the third great grandfather. Ubbay bin Kaab is son of Qais bin ‘Atik bin Zaid bin Muawiyah bin Amr bin Malik bin al-Najjar. Thus the common tie between Hassan, Abu Talhah and Ubbay is Amr (bin Malik). The Ansari said between Ubbay and Abi Talhah there are six great grandfathers.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ سورة آل عمران آية 92، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَرَى رَبَّنَا يَسْأَلُنَا مِنْ أَمْوَالِنَا فَإِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي قَدْ جَعَلْتُ أَرْضِي بِأَرِيحَاءَ لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ اجْعَلْهَا فِي قَرَابَتِكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَسَمَهَا بَيْنَ حَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ. قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ بَلَغَنِي عَنِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ زَيْدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ حَرَامِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ زَيْدِ مَنَاةَ بْنِ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ النَّجَّارِ وَ حَسَّانُ بْنُ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ حَرَامٍ، يَجْتَمِعَانِ إِلَى حَرَامٍ وَهُوَ الْأَبُ الثَّالِثُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَتِيكِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ النَّجَّارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَعَمْرٌو يَجْمَعُ حَسَّانَ وَ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ وَ أُبَيًّا:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ بَيْنَ أُبَيٍّ وَ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ سِتَّةُ آبَاءٍ.

انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں جب «لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون» کی آیت نازل ہوئی تو ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میرا خیال ہے کہ ہمارا رب ہم سے ہمارے مال مانگ رہا ہے، میں آپ کو گواہ بناتا ہوں کہ میں نے اریحاء نامی اپنی زمین اسے دے دی، اس پر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے فرمایا: اسے اپنے قرابت داروں میں تقسیم کر دو ، تو انہوں نے اسے حسان بن ثابت اور ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہما کے درمیان تقسیم کر دیا۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: مجھے محمد بن عبداللہ انصاری سے یہ بات معلوم ہوئی کہ ابوطلحہ کا نام: زید بن سہل بن اسود بن حرام بن عمرو ابن زید مناۃ بن عدی بن عمرو بن مالک بن النجار ہے، اور حسان: ثابت بن منذر بن حرام کے بیٹے ہیں، اس طرح ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ اور حسان رضی اللہ عنہ کا سلسلہ نسب حرام پر مل جاتا ہے وہی دونوں کے تیسرے باپ ( پردادا ) ہیں، اور ابی رضی اللہ عنہ کا سلسلہ نسب اس طرح ہے: ابی بن کعب بن قیس بن عتیک بن زید بن معاویہ بن عمرو بن مالک بن نجار، اس طرح عمرو: حسان، ابوطلحہ اور ابی تینوں کو سمیٹ لیتے ہیں یعنی تینوں کے جد اعلیٰ ہیں، انصاری ( محمد بن عبداللہ ) کہتے ہیں: ابی رضی اللہ عنہ اور ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے نسب میں چھ آباء کا فاصلہ ہے۔

Maimunah, wife of the Probhet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: I had a slave girl and I set her free. When the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم entered upon me, I informed him (of this). He said: May Allah give reward for it; if you had given her to your maternal uncles, it would have increased your reward

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم commanded to give sadaqah. A man said: Messenger of Allah, I have a dinar. He said: Spend it on yourself. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your children. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your wife. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your servant. He finally said: I have another. He replied: You know best (what to do with it).

Abdullah bin Amr reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: It is sufficient sin for a man that he neglects him whom he maintains.

Anas reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Anyone who is pleased that his sustenance is expanded and his age extended should do kindness to his near relatives.

Narrated Abdur Rahman ibn Awf: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: Allah the Exalted has said: I am Compassionate, and this has been derived from mercy. I have derived its name from My name. If anyone joins it, I shall join him, and if anyone cuts it off, I shall cut him off.

The above mentioned tradition has also been narrated by Abdur-Rahman bin Awf from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم through a different chain of narrators to the same effect.
