Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم commanded to give sadaqah. A man said: Messenger of Allah, I have a dinar. He said: Spend it on yourself. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your children. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your wife. He again said: I have another. He said: Spend it on your servant. He finally said: I have another. He replied: You know best (what to do with it).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عِنْدِي دِينَارٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عِنْدِي آخَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى وَلَدِكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عِنْدِي آخَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى زَوْجَتِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ زَوْجِكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عِنْدِي آخَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ عَلَى خَادِمِكَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ عِنْدِي آخَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْتَ أَبْصَرُ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صدقہ کا حکم دیا تو ایک شخص نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! میرے پاس ایک دینار ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اسے اپنے کام میں لے آؤ ، تو اس نے کہا: میرے پاس ایک اور ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اسے اپنے بیٹے کو دے دو ، اس نے کہا: میرے پاس ایک اور ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اسے اپنی بیوی کو دے دو ، اس نے کہا: میرے پاس ایک اور ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اسے اپنے خادم کو دے دو ، اس نے کہا میرے پاس ایک اور ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: اب تم زیادہ بہتر جانتے ہو ( کہ کسے دیا جائے ) ۔

Abdullah bin Amr reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: It is sufficient sin for a man that he neglects him whom he maintains.

Anas reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Anyone who is pleased that his sustenance is expanded and his age extended should do kindness to his near relatives.

Narrated Abdur Rahman ibn Awf: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: Allah the Exalted has said: I am Compassionate, and this has been derived from mercy. I have derived its name from My name. If anyone joins it, I shall join him, and if anyone cuts it off, I shall cut him off.

The above mentioned tradition has also been narrated by Abdur-Rahman bin Awf from the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم through a different chain of narrators to the same effect.

Jubair bin Mutim reported on the authority of his father: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Anyone who cuts off relationship from his nearest relatives will not enter Paradise.

Abdullah bin Amr said: (Sufyan said: The version of the narrator Sulaiman does not go back to The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. Fitr and al-Hasan reported from him ): The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: One who compensates is not a man who unites relationship: but the man who unites relationship is the one who joins it when the relationship is cut off.
