Ali bin Abi Talib said: When the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم uttered salutation at the end of the prayer, he used to say: O Allah, forgive me my former and latter sins, what I have kept secret and what I have done openly, and what I have done extravagance; and what You know better than I do. You are the Advancer, the Delayer, there is no god but You.
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمِّهِ الْمَاجِشُونِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا أَسْرَفْتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ .
علی بن ابی طالب رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب نماز سے سلام پھیرتے تو کہتے: «اللهم اغفر لي ما قدمت وما أخرت، وما أسررت وما أعلنت، وما أسرفت، وما أنت أعلم به مني، أنت المقدم وأنت المؤخر لا إله إلا أنت» اے اللہ! میرے اگلے پچھلے گناہ معاف کر دے اور وہ تمام گناہ جنہیں میں نے چھپ کر اور کھلم کھلا کیا ہو، اور جو زیادتی کی ہو اسے اور اس گناہ کو جسے تو مجھ سے زیادہ جانتا ہے، بخش دے۔ تو جسے چاہے آگے کرے، جسے چاہے پیچھے کرے، تیرے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to supplicate Allah: My Lord, help me and do not give help against me; grant me victory, and do not grant victory over me; plan on my behalf and do not plan against me; guide me, and made my right guidance easy for me; grant me victory over those who act wrongfully towards me; O Allah, make me grateful to Thee, mindful of Thee, full of fear towards Thee, devoted to Thy obedience, humble before Thee, or penitent. My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sin, answer my supplication, clearly establish my evidence, guide my heart, make true my tongue and draw out malice in my breast.
