Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to supplicate Allah: My Lord, help me and do not give help against me; grant me victory, and do not grant victory over me; plan on my behalf and do not plan against me; guide me, and made my right guidance easy for me; grant me victory over those who act wrongfully towards me; O Allah, make me grateful to Thee, mindful of Thee, full of fear towards Thee, devoted to Thy obedience, humble before Thee, or penitent. My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sin, answer my supplication, clearly establish my evidence, guide my heart, make true my tongue and draw out malice in my breast.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ طُلَيْقِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُو:‏‏‏‏ رَبِّ أَعِنِّي وَلَا تُعِنْ عَلَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَانْصُرْنِي وَلَا تَنْصُرْ عَلَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَامْكُرْ لِي وَلَا تَمْكُرْ عَلَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاهْدِنِي وَيَسِّرْ هُدَايَ إِلَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَانْصُرْنِي عَلَى مَنْ بَغَى عَلَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي لَكَ شَاكِرًا لَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ذَاكِرًا لَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏رَاهِبًا لَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِطْوَاعًا إِلَيْكَ مُخْبِتًا أَوْ مُنِيبًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏رَبِّ تَقَبَّلْ تَوْبَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاغْسِلْ حَوْبَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَجِبْ دَعْوَتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَثَبِّتْ حُجَّتِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاهْدِ قَلْبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَدِّدْ لِسَانِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاسْلُلْ سَخِيمَةَ قَلْبِي .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم یہ دعا مانگتے تھے: «رب أعني ولا تعن علي، وانصرني ولا تنصر علي، وامكر لي ولا تمكر علي، واهدني ويسر هداي إلي، وانصرني على من بغى علي، اللهم اجعلني لك شاكرا لك، ذاكرا لك، راهبا لك، مطواعا إليك مخبتا أو منيبا، رب تقبل توبتي، واغسل حوبتي، وأجب دعوتي، وثبت حجتي، واهد قلبي، وسدد لساني، واسلل سخيمة قلبي» اے میرے رب! میری مدد کر، میرے خلاف کسی کی مدد نہ کر، میری تائید کر، میرے خلاف کسی کی تائید نہ کر، ایسی چال چل جو میرے حق میں ہو، نہ کہ ایسی جو میرے خلاف ہو، مجھے ہدایت دے اور جو ہدایت مجھے ملنے والی ہے، اسے مجھ تک آسانی سے پہنچا دے، اس شخص کے مقابلے میں میری مدد کر، جو مجھ پر زیادتی کرے، اے اللہ! مجھے تو اپنا شکر گزار، اپنا یاد کرنے والا اور اپنے سے ڈرنے والا بنا، اپنا اطاعت گزار، اپنی طرف گڑگڑانے والا، یا دل لگانے والا بنا، اے میرے پروردگار! میری توبہ قبول کر، میرے گناہ دھو دے، میری دعا قبول فرما، میری دلیل مضبوط کر، میرے دل کو سیدھی راہ دکھا، میری زبان کو درست کر اور میرے دل سے حسد اور کینہ نکال دے ۔

The aforesaid tradition has also been transmitted by Amr bin Murrah through a different chain of narrators to the same effect. This version adds: And make right guidance easy for me. The narrator did not say: my right guidance . Abu Dawud said: Sufyan heard eighteen traditions from Amr bin Murrah.

Aishah said: When the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم uttered taslim, he used to say: O Allah, You are As-Salam, and from you is As-Salam. You are blessed, O One of Magnificence and Generosity.

Thawban, the client of Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: When the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم finished the prayer, he asked forgiveness three times and said: O Allah. . . . . The narrator then narrated the tradition like that of Aishah.

Narrated Abu Bakr as-Siddiq: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: He who asks pardon is not a confirmed sinner, even if he returns to his sin seventy times a day.
