Narrated Talq ibn Ali: Qays ibn Talq said: Talq ibn Ali visited us on a certain day during Ramadan. He remained with us till evening and broke fast with us. He then stood up and led us in the witr prayer. He then went to his mosque and led them in prayer. When the witr remained, he put forward another man and said: Lead your companions in the witr prayer, for I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: There are no two witrs during one night.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُلَازِمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَدْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ زَارَنَا طَلْقُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ فِي يَوْمٍ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَمْسَى عِنْدَنَا وَأَفْطَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَامَ بِنَا تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ وَأَوْتَرَ بِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ انْحَدَرَ إِلَى مَسْجِدِهِ فَصَلَّى بِأَصْحَابِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَقِيَ الْوِتْرُ قَدَّمَ رَجُلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَوْتِرْ بِأَصْحَابِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ لَا وِتْرَانِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ .

قیس بن طلق کہتے ہیں کہ طلق بن علی رضی اللہ عنہ رمضان میں ایک دن ہمارے پاس آئے، شام تک رہے روزہ افطار کیا، پھر اس رات انہوں نے ہمارے ساتھ قیام اللیل کیا، ہمیں وتر پڑھائی پھر اپنی مسجد میں گئے اور اپنے ساتھیوں کو نماز پڑھائی یہاں تک کہ جب صرف وتر باقی رہ گئی تو ایک شخص کو آگے بڑھایا اور کہا: اپنے ساتھیوں کو وتر پڑھاؤ، اس لیے کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو کہتے سنا ہے کہ ایک رات میں دو وتر نہیں ۔

Abu Hurairah said: By Allah, I shall offer prayer like that of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. The narrator said: Abu Hurairah used to recite the supplication in the last rak'ah of the noon, night and dawn prayers. He would supplicate for the believers and curse the disbelievers.

Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم recited the supplication in the night prayer for a month. He said (in his supplication): O Allah, rescue al-Walid bin al-Walid, rescue Salamah bin Hisham, rescue the weak believers; O Allah, trample severely on Mudar; O Allah, cause them a famine like that of Joseph. Abu Hurairah said: One morning the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم id not make supplication for them. So I told him about it. He said: You dod not see that they have come (back).

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم recited the supplication (Qunut) daily for a month at the noon, afternoon, sunset, night and morning prayers. When he said: Allah listens to him who praises Him in the last rak'ah, invoking a curse on some clans of Banu Sulaym, Ri'l, Dhakwan and Usayyah, and those who were standing behind him said: Amen.
