Narrated Amr ibn Anbasah as-Sulami: I asked: Messenger of Allah, in which part of night the supplication is more likely to be accepted? He replied: In the last part: Pray as much as you like, for the prayer is attended by the angels and it is recorded till you offer the dawn prayer; then stop praying when the sun is rising till it has reached the height of one or two lances, for it rises between the two horns of the Devil, and the infidels offer prayer for it (at that time). Then pray as much as you like, because the prayer is witnessed and recorded till the shadow of a lance be- comes equal to it. Then cease prayer, for at that time the Hell-fire is heated up and doors of Hell are opened. When the sun declines, pray as much as you like, for the prayer is witnessed till you pray the afternoon prayer; then cease prayer till the sun sets, for it sets between the horns of the Devil, and (at that time) the infidels offer prayer for it. He narrated a lengthy tradition. Abbas said: Abu Salam narrated this tradition in a similar manner from Abu Umamah. If I have made a mistake unintentionally, I beg pardon of Allah and repent to Him.

حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُهَاجِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَيُّ اللَّيْلِ أَسْمَعُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ الْآخِرُ فَصَلِّ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَكْتُوبَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ فَتَرْتَفِعَ قِيسَ رُمْحٍ أَوْ رُمْحَيْنِ فَإِنَّهَا تَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ وَتُصَلِّي لَهَا الْكُفَّارُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ صَلِّ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ مَكْتُوبَةٌ حَتَّى يَعْدِلَ الرُّمْحُ ظِلَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ تُسْجَرُ وَتُفْتَحُ أَبْوَابُهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا زَاغَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلِّ مَا شِئْتَ فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ مَشْهُودَةٌ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الْعَصْرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَقْصِرْ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ فَإِنَّهَا تَغْرُبُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ وَيُصَلِّي لَهَا الْكُفَّارُ . وَقَصَّ حَدِيثًا طَوِيلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ الْعَبَّاسُ:‏‏‏‏ هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَّامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنْ أُخْطِئَ شَيْئًا لَا أُرِيدُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ.

عمرو بن عبسہ سلمی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! رات کے کس حصے میں دعا زیادہ قبول ہوتی ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: رات کے آخری حصے میں، اس وقت جتنی نماز چاہو پڑھو، اس لیے کہ ان میں فرشتے حاضر ہوتے ہیں اور فجر پڑھنے تک ( ثواب ) لکھے جاتے ہیں، اس کے بعد سورج نکلنے تک رک جاؤ یہاں تک کہ وہ ایک یا دو نیزے کے برابر بلند ہو جائے، اس لیے کہ سورج شیطان کی دو سینگوں کے درمیان نکلتا ہے اور کافر ( سورج کے پجاری ) اس وقت اس کی پوجا کرتے ہیں، پھر تم جتنی نماز چاہو پڑھو، اس لیے کہ اس نماز میں فرشتے حاضر ہوتے ہیں اور ( ثواب ) لکھے جاتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ جب نیزے کا سایہ اس کے برابر ہو جائے تو ٹھہر جاؤ، اس لیے کہ اس وقت جہنم دہکائی جاتی ہے اور اس کے دروازے کھول دیئے جاتے ہیں، پھر جب سورج ڈھل جائے تو تم جتنی نماز چاہو پڑھو، اس لیے کہ اس وقت بھی فرشتے حاضر ہوتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ تم عصر پڑھ لو تو سورج ڈوبنے تک ٹھہر جاؤ، اس لیے کہ وہ شیطان کی دو سینگوں کے بیچ ڈوبتا ہے، اور کافر اس کی پوجا کرتے ہیں ، انہوں نے ایک لمبی حدیث بیان کی۔ عباس کہتے ہیں: ابوسلام نے اسی طرح مجھ سے ابوامامہ کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا ہے، البتہ نادانستہ مجھ سے جو بھول ہو گئی ہو تو اس کے لیے میں اللہ سے مغفرت طلب کرتا ہوں اور اس کی طرف رجوع ہوتا ہوں۔

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: Yasar, the client of Ibn Umar, said: Ibn Umar saw me praying after the break of dawn. He said: O Yasar, the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم came to us while we were offering this prayer. He (the Prophet) said: Those who are present should inform those who are absent: Do not offer any prayer after (the break of) dawn except two rak'ahs.

Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: Dhakwan, the client of Aishah, reported on the authority of Aishah: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to pray after the afternoon prayer but prohibited others from it; and he would fast continuously but forbid others to do so.

Narrated Abdullah al-Muzani: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Pray two rak'ahs before the Maghrib prayer. He then said (again): Pray two rak'ahs before the Maghrib prayer, it applies to those who wish to do so. That was because he feared that the people might treat it as sunnah.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: I offered two rak'ahs of prayer before the Maghrib prayer (i. e. obligatory) during the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. I (narrator al-Mukhtar bin Fulful) asked Anas: Did the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم se you ? He replied: Yes, but he neither commanded us nor forbade us (to do so).

Narrated Abdullah bin Mughaffal: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: Between the two adhans there is a prayer, between the two adhans there is prayer for one who desires (to offer).
