Narrated Abdullah ibn Masud: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم addressed, he would say: Praise be to Allah, from Whom we seek help and pardon, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls. He whom Allah guide has no one who can lead him astray, and he whom He leads astray has no one to guide him. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. He sent him before the coming of the last hour with truth giving good tidings and warning. He who obeys Allah and His Messenger follows the right path; and he who disobeys them shall harm none except himself, and he will not harm Allah in the least.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي عِيَاضٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَانَ إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ نَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَنَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْ يَهْدِهِ اللَّهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَرْسَلَهُ بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ رَشَدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَنْ يَعْصِهِمَا فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَضُرُّ إِلَّا نَفْسَهُ وَلَا يَضُرُّ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا .

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب خطبہ پڑھتے تو کہتے: «الحمد لله نستعينه ونستغفره ونعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا، من يهده الله فلا مضل له، ومن يضلل فلا هادي له، وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله، أرسله بالحق بشيرا ونذيرا بين يدي الساعة، من يطع الله ورسوله فقد رشد، ومن يعصهما فإنه لا يضر إلا نفسه ولا يضر الله شيئا» ہر قسم کی حمد و ثنا اللہ ہی کے لیے ہے، ہم اسی سے مدد ما نگتے ہیں اور اسی سے مغفرت چاہتے ہیں، ہم اپنے نفس کی برائیوں سے اللہ کی پناہ مانگتے ہیں، اللہ تعالیٰ جسے ہدایت دے اسے کوئی گمراہ نہیں کر سکتا، اور جسے گمراہ کر دے اسے کوئی ہدایت نہیں دے سکتا، میں اس بات کی گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی معبود برحق نہیں اور محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ کے بندے اور اس کے رسول ہیں، اللہ تعالیٰ نے انہیں برحق رسول بنا کر قیامت آنے سے پہلے خوشخبری سنانے والا اور ڈرانے والا بنا کر بھیجا ہے، جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی اطاعت کرے گا وہ سیدھی راہ پر ہے، اور جو ان دونوں کی نافرمانی کرے گا وہ خود اپنے آپ کو نقصان پہنچائے گا، اللہ تعالیٰ کا کچھ نہیں بگاڑ سکے گا ۔

Narrated Ibn Shihab: Yunus asked Ibn Shihab about the address of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم on Friday. He mentioned it in like manner. He added: Anyone who disobeys them (Allah and His Messenger) goes astray. We beseech Allah, our Lord, to make us from those who obey Him and obey His Messenger, and follow what He likes, and abstain from His anger; we are due to Him and we belong to Him.

Adi bin Hatim said: A speaker delivered a speech in the presence of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He said: Anyone who obeys Allah and His Messenger, and one who disobeys them. He said: Go away, you are a bad speaker.

Bint al-Harith bin al-Numan said: I memorized Surah al-Qaf from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم; he would recite it in his speech on every friday. Our oven and his oven were same. Abu Dawud said: Rawh bin Ubadah reported on the authority of Shubah the name Bint Harithah bin al-Numan ; and Ibn Ishaq reported the name of Umm Hisham hint Harithah bin al-Numan.

Jabir bin Samurah said: The prayer offered by the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was moderate, and the sermon given by him was (also) moderate. He would recite a few verses from the Quran and exhort the people.

Umrah reported on the authority of her sister: I memorized Surah al-Qaf from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم; he used to recite it on every friday. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated in a similar way by Yahya bin Ayyub, Ibn Abu Ar-Rijal, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Umrah from Umm Hisham hint Harithah bin al-Numan.

This tradition has also been transmitted to the same effect through a different chain of narrators by Umrah from her sister Umrah daughter of Abdur-Rahman who was older than her.
